Ms. Reed's Super Students
April 26th-29th!
**PLEASE READ
- Reading Out Loud-Reading should happen every single night. Please don't think your student needs to sit in their room with a closed door reading in their head. Students should be read to often at this age! Try taking turns reading pages or reading two short books, one they read to you, and then you read the other to them. This will help with their fluency, intonation and high frequency word knowledge!
- Prodigy- The app/website for math practice and games that you can use all summer and I would like to use it in math club. The week before last, week I sent home a piece of paper with our class code. Please use that to register your student at home as we will also be using it during stations. I would be more than happy to send a new one home if it has been misplaced!
- Helping Others- A Carroll fifth grader is collecting products for homeless people in Frisco. There are collection boxes set up near our pod.
Another fundraiser is underway to help a school in Nigeria. If you’re able to donate to this cause the jar is in our front office.
Homework-There is no homework this week! :) Just practice some basic facts and continuing reading and I will send out next week's on Monday as usual!
Math Solution Example
This week we learned alot!
Math- This week we have been reviewing for our CBA that we took today and will correct and reflect on tomorrow!
Reading- In reading we have revisited main idea and used different strategies to identify it but always remembering that we can't determine the main idea without supporting details. Just like a stool isn't a stool without legs to support it!
Writing- We have continued and begun to wrap up our poetry unit. The students have been writing Cinquain poems using the proper, 1,2,3,4,1 line break strategy as well as writing shape poems! Writing about a topic of choice and publishing it in the shape of that object!
Science- This week we have begun learning about how animal's physical characteristics help them to meet their basic needs.
Social Studies- Tomorrow we will learn the definitions and list some examples of producers and consumers.
