Getting ready for Halloween

On Monday, October 31st, we will celebrate Halloween with our OLA community! To prepare, here are a few pieces of information that will help set us all up for success:

  • Children are invited to wear and be in their costumes for the entire day;
  • Thank you for ensuring that costumes continue to allow children to move about their day as normal (ie. can sit, eat and go outside for recess)
  • Costumes are to be appropriate for school and are not to include excessive gore, blood or weapons. Thank you for ensuring that costumes are not offensive or perpetuate a stereotype of someone's culture, gender or heritage.
  • Throughout the day there will be in-class Halloween events and activities and a costume parade after our Morning Faith assembly.
  • Thank you for adding a special treat or two for your child to enjoy during their in class party.
  • We will not be asking families to contribute food for the class to consume.
  • Your child's teacher will share specifics regarding in-class events and activities. Please contact them if you have any questions.

We are looking forward to celebrating this very fun and exciting time together! Thank you for all your help to ensure everyone is well and joy-filled on this exciting day!

Scholastic Book Fair

This year EVERYONE is invited as we welcome back the Scholastic Book Fair to Our Lady of the Angels School!

Every year the Scholastic Book Fair has been an exciting way to help fill our library shelves with new books - and have a little fun along the way! Once again there will be guessing games and contests, and some new characters we can't wait to meet!

To help your child find the best books for them they will visit our Book Fair during class time. Students are allowed to purchase books, but the focus of our fair is enjoying a ‘book store visit’ and encouraging a love of reading. Please check out the flyer that will be sent home with your child next week to see which titles interest them. Scholastic has shared some "book trailers" where you can get a sneak peek into a few of the stories, and an easy-to-navigate link to peruse the great books available this year the fair.

We are so pleased that our Book Fair will once again be open during the 3-Way Conferences for our Family Event. This is a great opportunity for families to shop together and enter our Family Event Draw. You could win $25 worth of books for your family and $25 worth of books for your child’s classroom! For those families unable to visit the fair in person, please check out our Virtual Book Fair link, all sales here still support OLA.

We look forward to seeing you during our fair and thank you for supporting this great literary fundraiser. Mostly, thank you for believing in books and the importance reading has on your child’s future.

Book Fair Dates: October 31st & November 3rd
