Darwins father was a wealthy physician, his mother, a daughter of Josiah Wedgwood, one of the richest industrialists in England. Moreover, by wedding his first cousin, Emma Wedgwood, Josiahs daughter, he secured a double-barreled inheritance of the Wedgwood fortune.
Adult career.
After Charles Darwin left Cambridge, he went on the HMS Beagle in 1831. The HMS Beagle is a survey ship that Charles Darwin stayed on for 5 years. Charles Darin had his own theory on how the species changes over time. Worked for 20 years on trying to figure that out. After meeting Alfred Russel Wallace, another scientist with the same idea, he published a book in 1859.
