Do As The Romans Do
Do you know the English saying "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" ? There is a similar saying in Chinese, 入乡随俗 (rù xiāng suí sú). The original meaning in Chinese is that, when you get to a village, you should follow the customs of the village. Do as the villagers do. It is the equivalent in English idiom. Therefore, when you visit another country, it is very important to respect the customs of people. So, when in China or any other country, it is good to find out what the customs are before you get there and behave accordingly. So learning the culture is as important as learning a language. This is exactly what you are doing now.
