The Last Week of School!
Hello Raider Nation --
Happy Father’s Day – I hope our dads on staff had a terrific day! I certainly enjoyed my day!
It is hard to believe that we have reached the last Sunday newsletter of the 2018 – 2019 school year. It seems only yesterday that I was writing the summer newsletter introducing myself to Raider Nation. The end of a school year always brings change. Whether moving to another state or retiring, it is a time to say goodbye to some members of our family:
Retirements – Ms. Jacqueline Lopata, Latin and Ms. Nancy Shea, Physical Education
Promotions – Mr. Jonathan Dupski, Leadership Intern, Mt. Hebron High School
Transfers and Moves – Mr. Anton Evans, Security Officer to Wilde Lake HS, Mr. Neil Gwinn, PPW, to another cluster TBD, Ms. Katherine Kern, Art, to Montgomery County Public Schools, Ms. Ann Stenoien, Social Studies, to Centennial HS.
We wish everyone a successful transition to their new stations in life and thank them for their service to the Atholton community.
With all the budget and staffing issues this year, we are finally prepared to give everyone their teaching assignments for next year. Thank you to Adrienne and Nina who have worked very hard to keep up with all the iterations and changes that have transpired over the past few months. We will finalize everything tomorrow and assignments will be released starting Tuesday.
On Tuesday afternoon, we will hold a locker cleanout for students. Sam Richman will be sending out more information on this process.
This last week has two luncheons scheduled – Wednesday, June 19 is the PTSA End of Year Luncheon beginning at 11:30. On Thursday is OUR Staff End of Year Picnic in the courtyard (weather permitting). On Thursday, there will also be an ice cream truck (courtesy of admin) for a nice summer treat!
I want to thank everyone for an awesome first year as your principal. It has been truly a pleasure getting to know you all (and reacquaint with many) this year. I am so thrilled to be at Atholton and looking forward to the great things we will accomplish. Thank you to Katie Meloro and the PLC for their work with our Values Initiative. I cannot wait to unveil the results and begin shaping our school culture, mission, and vision.
Have a great summer!!
I am certain there will be more emails from me this week as things pop up.
See you tomorrow!
Robert
