Final Exams are optional and can be completed anytime through Friday, May 22nd at midnight. Please communicate with specific teachers about final exams in each class. If you use an eDCSD computer, Computer drop off will be conducted on Thursday and Friday with details below. Please read below for this week’s announcements.

Announcements

Elementary Work for May 20-22

Due to the COVID Pandemic and the need to collect computers, we are not requiring finals. For Elementary school, this means anything that is assigned in Canvas under the heading May 20-22 is not required. If you want to do the work in those modules, you can; however, you do not have to and Mrs. Byrd will excuse it if you choose not to do it. Work prior to May 20th is still due on May 19th. Please let Mrs. Byrd know if you have any questions.

Computer Drop Off Information

During the last week of school on May 21-22 eDCSD will be holding our computer drop through a curbside process with specific assigned time slots. In an effort to limit interactions and to comply with current district and state guidelines, we are asking that students and parents/guardians to stay in their vehicles throughout the process. Per Douglas County School district guidelines students and parents/guardians will also not be permitted inside the eDCSD building during this time. We have put together the following information to give you more specifics around our upcoming dates and specifics around the curbside process. Please take time to review the material so that we can have a seamless process for everyone.

Schedule of Collection/Drop-Off Process: The times are listed below

  • K-8 Thursday, May 21st 10:00 am - Noon

  • 9th - 12th Friday, May 22nd 10:00 am - Noon

(If you have students in both K 8 and 9-12 please just choose one of the times)

Collection/Drop-Off Process:

  • We are only allowed a limited staff to help us with this. We cannot have volunteers help. We have never done this before so we ask for everyone’s patience as we try to do this to the best of our ability.

  • Please fill out this form and attach it to the computer box, so it is easy for us to read. If there is any damage to the computer or any accessories are missing please note on this form.

  • Please limit number of people who come to drop off items (only family members please)

  • Wear masks to school site in your cars. Masks and gloves will be worn by staff who are helping with collection.

  • Please see the attached map below for traffic flow during the drop off.

  • Please wipe down the computer and accessories with a sanitizing wipe before boxing it up, if at all possible.

  • Family, please place the computer in the trunk of the vehicle before you arrive. When pulling through the drop-off area, family will pop open the trunk and staff will remove the computer.

Weather Delays

With the recent weather, we thought it would be good to communicate what our general procedure will be at eDCSD. In case of a closure, we will not hold blended and our office will be closed. If it is not a blended day, teachers will have instructions on their class pages with further instructions for the day.

If we have a delay, typically the district will call a 90 min delay. However, since eDCSD has later than typical start times, we will run on a 60 min delay. If we have a delay on a blended day, we will start 1 hour late. If your student is riding the bus, their pick up time will be 1 hour later than originally communicated. If we have a delay on a virtual class day, we will run on a normal schedule.
