GRANDPARENTS' AND GRANDFRIENDS' DAY - MORE INFORMATION!
If you forgot to turn in the RSVP for lunch choices through the school cafeteria, guests will not be able to order a school lunch. But don't worry! Guests are more than welcome to bring in their own lunch!
Both Front and Back parking lots will be open for grandparents. Please follow marked signs.
Guests are welcome to visit our lounge to sit, relax and have a cup of coffee if they have down time between activities.
BOOK FAIR IS COMING!!
Did you know? Reading just 20 minutes a day exposes your child to about 1.8 million words per year. Reading helps students develop a stronger vocabulary, and in addition, students who read for pleasure average higher grades in English, mathematics, science, and history!

Tell your friends and family: USD 231 is currently seeking qualified candidates for Para Educators, Evening Custodians, and Nutrition Services Assistants.
- We have openings at Grand Star Elementary, Gardner Elementary and Sunflower Elementary Schools for Para Educators/Building Aides.
- We are looking for an Evening Custodian to serve at Wheatridge Middle School.
- We have a part-time opportunity at the Gardner Edgerton High School for a Nutrition Services Assistant.
If you know someone who may be interested, please have them visit the District website (usd231.com) and complete an online application. Positions of 30 hours or more per week receive single health and dental benefits as well as sick leave; year round positions also receive paid holidays.

Site Council
The Sunflower Site Council will be meeting at 6 pm in the library on the following dates: 9/17/19, 11/12/19, 2/11/20, 4/14/20.
All meetings are open to the public.
Kansas schools are required to establish site councils composed of the principal, teachers and other school personnel, parents, business representatives, and other community groups.
Site councils have a responsibility to provide advice and counsel in the following areas: evaluating district and school performance goals and objectives, determining methods to meet those goals and objectives, and other areas as requested by the board of education.
Remember, the work of the site council is advisory only; it makes recommendations, not decisions.
