The Outsiders Soundtrack
By Daniel Ray
Coldplay Viva La Vida
This song fits when Ponyboy and Johnny have to run away because the lyrics talk about the king dying and the kingdom falling. "One minute I held the key, next the walls were closed on me, and I discovered that my castles stand, upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand." These lyrics are synonymous to Ponyboy and Johnny's lives falling apart. "We were really running away, with the police after us for murder and a loaded gun by our side." (The Outsiders)

Michael Jackson Beat It
This song fits the rumble scene because, the lyrics warn somebody to "beat it". This fits the tension and threats of the moments before the fight perfectly. "There was an uneasy silence. Who was going to start it? Darry solved the problem. He stepped frward under the circle of light made by the street lamp--The Darry said, "I'll take on anyone."(The Outsiders)

Kid Cudi The Prayer
The prayer fits Johnny dying because it talks about making a difference before you die. "Sometimes I'm thinking God made me special here on purpose, so all the while 'til I'm gone make my words important-" (The Prayer) These lyrics fit the story because Johnny makes a big impact on the rest of the group while he's alive. "Damnit, Johnny..." he begged, slamming one fist against the wall, hammering it to obey his will. "Oh damnit, Johnny, don't die, please don't die..." He suddenly bolted through the door and down the hall." (The Outsiders) This shows Johnny meant the world to even Dally, one f the toughest guys in the novel.

Kid Cudi All Along
This song fits the moments after the deaths of Johnny and Dally when Ponyboy goes into a depression. The lyrics say, "All along, I guess I'm meant to be alone," and this must be what Ponyboy is feeling. Two of his best friends were killed within a few days of each other and he feels alone.
Kid Cudi- All Along
Coldplay Everything's Not Lost
"Everything's Not Lost" fits at the very end of the book, when Ponyboy starts to accept Johnny, and Dally's deaths. The title itself stands for how he feels, but in the song it says,"If you think all is lost, I'll be counting up my demons, Hoping everything's not lost." This fits because Ponyboy starts to see that he still has his other friends and family there and that everything isn't lost.
