Fall is Here! What Happened to Summer?
Summer 2017 was great for SCAC..... In June we kicked off our first Running Club with 14 participates. Runners met twice a week for 10 weeks to prepare for our 5K. Coaches Megan and Chris not only challenged these runners to do their best and push to be better at running, but also talked with them about being the best people they can be as they serve Christ.
In June we also held our annual Summer Soccer Camp. A record 70 campers participated in 4 days of fun, skill work and spiritual development led by our great coaches.
July, along with soccer team signings, Coaches Kay and David went to El Salvador for their yearly mission trip. SC was able to contribute financially and players contributed by sending cleats to the kids in El Salvador.
August 3 we held our Club wide 5K. This great event served as the end of the running club and was the symbolic start to the Fall soccer season.
Now with school having starting, our evenings are filled with practices and weekends with games. Thanks for allowing our Club to be part of your and your young athletes lives.

Chaplain's Corner
Kids are perceptive. When we think they’re glued to the TV or lost in a video game, but they notice things. They’re always observing…always learning. And since they are always learning, it’s important to be intentional about what we teach them. South City Athletic Club’s goal is to partner with you as a parent to teach your children. We want them to learn their sport, grow in their athletic skills, improve their speed and agility, and understand the importance of working together as a team. (And we hope to win some games along the way!) But that’s not enough. We also want to teach them character and biblical values. This helps fulfill our mission to reach, train and send players locally and internationally to make a positive difference in their lives, homes, schools and communities.
Here’s the themes we’ve been talking about in the month of August:
· Jesus is most important
· God will help me.
· God loves me.
· God loves everyone.
We want your player to know that nothing else is as important as Christ. We’ll spend the rest of our lives learning how to make Jesus the center of all things. When we need it, God is there to help us. Why does God help us? Because he loves us! And God doesn’t just say that he loves us. He took action. The reason we know that God loves us is because he sent Jesus. We want your child to know that God loves them no matter what they do, but God doesn’t just love us. God loves everyone. The best way we can show our love for God is by loving other people, especially people that are different from us.
These are the lessons SCAC is teaching your children on a weekly basis. Our prayer is that they are learning these values but also learning how to live them out at home, school and on the field. In fact, we know they’re learning.
Because that’s what kids do.
Thank you for letting us partner with you. Please let us know how we can serve you and your family.
