FIRE DRILL- September 20th 6th period
The September fire evacuation drill is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6th period, weather permitting. This drill will be an OBSTRUCTED drill. That means that one of the evacuation exits will be blocked. On Wednesday, please review with each of your classes, including Pride, both the primary and secondary evacuation routes from your classrooms. Additionally, be sure that you review proper evacuation etiquette:
- Exit quietly, in single file
- Stay together as a group
- Assemble in the stationing area
- Remain quiet for possible further instructions.
- On the return sound, again, move quietly and in organized lines to return to the building and classroom

Klein ISD is going to Space!
We are ready to LAUNCH—literally--into our first Innovation Challenge this year! We wrote and won a grant and are very excited to be one of the districts selected to participate in the Students Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) Space Shuttle Competition. Teams of 3-5 students in grades 5-12 will design an experiment showing the effect of gravity being turned off in a system. Each team will need one educator-sponsor to facilitate, but the research, ideas, and written technical proposal should come from our brilliant students.
If you’re interested in this Innovation Challenge and want more information:
- Please fill out the Interest Form.
- You will receive an access code to join the informational Schoology course once you submit the form.
- Once reviewing the information about the program in Schoology, you can sign up if you want to be a sponsor and list your student team members.
- This form, with the names of your team members, is due by September 17. (And teachers of our younger learners, don’t worry! There’s a related innovation challenge coming your way soon…more information in a future Exchange.)
Relationship Driven: #purposefulkindness
If we can create a community where no one is left behind and seen as an outcast, then we can focus on helping one another and building up each other’s strengths, allowing our world to be better for EVERYONE. Imagine the things our community can accomplish when everyone comes together and works towards a common goal.
~Klein Cain Culture4Caring Student Director Brayden Espinosa (You can read the whole awesome post here.)
PASS IT ON- honor your students and colleagues with a note. #purposefulkindness note cards can be found in any of the grade level offices, the front office, and in the teacher's lounge.
REQUIRED: Updating your Doerre Website/Schoology Profile
You should have updated your Doerre Website Profile by Friday, August 31 if you haven’t already done so. You will need to include your name, title, email, phone number, conference period, and a professional photo (this process involves steps in both Schoology and School Messenger).
Once you have updated your profile, please fill out this REQUIRED district FORM.

TODAY IS OUR EVENT! Meet us in the cafeteria at 4:30!
#DoerreStrong: Each month we will host a community building activity for our students living in residential treatment centers and foster care. The goal is to help them connect with our school community and feel as though they belong. We will feed the students and their caregivers, then attend a Doerre event together. September's event will be a Kick Off The School Year at a Doerre football game.
Results Focused: PRIDE
Click HERE for the PRIDE site on the Doerre Dashboard for all things Pride (calendars, resources, lesson plans, etc)
A Pride activity for today has been posted on the Doerre Dashboard.
- The PLC’s will decide who they need for intervention and/or enrichment for PRIDE and send the student names to the department chairs who will then send one list for the department to their specialists.
- The specialists will claim students on the PRIDE lists.
- The priority calendar will work like this: 3 weeks math, 3 weeks ELA, 1 week science or S.S. or Electives.
- Department chairs need to send a list of intervention students to specialists by the end of the day Tuesday. Department chairs need to submit all other student names to the specialists by the end of the day Thursday.
- Teachers still need to fill in their offering choice by Monday (study hall will be offered through athletics, so we do not need any more options for study hall)
- Students still need to pick their Friday choice during Pride on Wednesdays.
- Students will be sent an email on Friday with their PRIDE schedule for the following week. Please still communicate with your students about where they are going.
