Message from Principal Haugens
The first official day of winter is Tuesday, December 21st, but we all know the weather starts to get cold sooner than that. We have been lucky to have some nice weather the past week, but it will not last too much longer.
As we start to get into the colder months of the year, I wanted to remind both parents and students to dress for the weather. Students line up outside before school and go outdoors for recess when the air temperature including “wind chill” is 10 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Students are allowed to play in the snow if they are properly dressed in their winter gear, which includes a winter jacket, snow pants, hat, gloves and boots.
If a student is healthy enough to attend school they are also healthy enough to go outside for recess. A doctor’s note is needed in order for a student to stay in at recess.
The Bloomingdale School District uses an emergency phone broadcast system and notification service throughout our school community. This service is called Swift Reach and enables us to communicate with parents about emergency situations including any significant weather event and the need to cancel school for the day. Emergency school closing information can be sent to your family's home, work, or cell phone.
- When a call comes from the school (or district), your caller ID will display the school (or district) phone number.
- It is important that DuJardin School has all of your current telephone numbers so that you will not miss out on any important communication.
- Please contact the school office if you need to update a phone number or email address.
I hope everyone has a happy and joyous holiday season. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or feedback. The best way to reach me would be via email or phone: firstname.lastname@example.org or 630-894-9200.
