A Message To Families From Mr. Peck
Riverview Families,
This time of year it is customary for us to give thanks for the blessings in our lives and I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for our students, staff, and the entire Riverview community.
First, I am grateful for every single learner we serve. They are the heart and soul of our school, and their enthusiasm for learning, creativity, and kindness make every day at Riverview a joy. Their dedication to learning, their compassion for one another, and their eagerness to embrace new challenges truly exemplify the spirit of our school.
Next, I am thankful for our exceptional staff! Thank you to each member of our team for their unwavering commitment to the education and well-being of our students. Their passion for teaching, their tireless efforts to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, and their endless dedication to the growth and development of each child do not go unnoticed.
Finally, to the Riverview community that extends beyond the walls of our classrooms. I am grateful for the support and involvement of our parents, guardians, and families. Your partnership in the education of our students is invaluable, and the sense of community you bring enhances the overall experience for everyone at Riverview.
Wishing you a joyful and restful Thanksgiving holiday.

Balloons Over Riverview Parade Scheduled For Tuesday
In ITL, students have been learning about the history of the Macey’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and puppeteer, Tony Sarg, who designed and engineered the giant balloons the parade is famous for. Each grade level has created a “balloon” to share in the Balloons Over Riverview Parade, which will take place at 12:45 on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
- Kindergarteners practiced their coloring, cutting and gluing and created paper balloons.
- 1st Graders colored and created balloons animals on sticks.
- 2nd graders created directed drawings and used sticks and straws to make them to stand up straight.
- 3rd graders worked in small groups to design and create foil balloons with tin foil and sharpies.
- 4th and 5th graders worked in small groups to design and engineer box characters with cardboard, MakeDo cardboard tools and miscellaneous items from the makerspace.
The event will be live streamed on the RVES Facebook page.

End of Day Student Pick Up Must Be Done Directly In Front of the School
When students are waiting to be picked up at the end of the day, it is important that they stay near the supervision we have in front of the school. They should not walk down the sidewalk (toward Dodge Middle School) to find their pick-up vehicle. We do not have adult supervision down that way and we can not monitor which vehicle our learners are getting into. While it may take longer to wait in the line until you get to the front of the school, it is essential that we do it this way to ensure the safety of every student. Thank you for your cooperation with this important request.

Consider Donating Unwrapped Toys For Those in Need This Holiday Season
Riverview Elementary is a drop off location for the “Toys for Town” collection drive. Toys for Town is an annual toy drive organized by the Farmington Police Department to help make the holiday season special for children in our community. The program provides local families a holiday meal kit and gifts for their children. In 2022, there were 400 children from 117 families that benefited from this program. The police department is anticipating similar numbers in 2023.
This year, the Farmington Police Department is setting an ambitious fundraising goal of $40,000, which would match 2022's donations. Along with the fundraising goal, collection bins for unwrapped toy donations have been set out at area businesses and city buildings. (See full list of locations below). They will be available until Monday, Dec. 11. In addition, monetary donations to the Toys for Town program will be accepted at the police department.
If your family needs this program, the department will take request calls through Dec. 11. Call 651-280-6TOY (6869).
Volunteers are needed to wrap and deliver toys on Saturday, Dec. 16. The wrapping event will be held at Farmington High School, 20655 Flagstaff Ave., starting at 9 a.m. Just show up at 9 a.m. ready to wrap!
Toys for Town tree ornaments are available for purchase! Proceeds will benefit the Toys for Town program. Stop by the police department, or the downtown Farmington Liquors location to pick one up.
