Parent/ Teacher Conferences Are Coming Up!
Wednesday, November 1st from 1:00-700PM
Thursday, November 2nd from 12:00-8:00PM
Teams will be reaching out to parents about conferences BY MONDAY, OCTOBER 16th to start scheduling the conference with the teachers. We do ask that students come, so that they can share about their reflection and artifacts. Families will meet with all core teachers in one space, and then they will have the option to visit elective teachers in the gym on a first come, first served basis.
Please note that we are trying something a bit new to help meet the needs of meeting with all core teachers in the student-led format. We will be sending out a survey after conferences to ask for feedback on how to continually improve the process. Student-led conferences are a very valuable component of student growth and reflection.
Save The Date: Veteran's Day Assembly - November 10th
Would you like to bring a veteran from your family to honor him/her? Please RSVP using THIS LINK. RSVPs need to be collected by Friday, November 3rd in order for the names to appear in a video created by the journalism class, as well as stars that STUCO will create to recognize our veterans.
Morning and Afternoon Procedures at EMS
We will begin to welcome students into the building starting at 7:10 AM.
- When 8th and 7th grade enter, they will be ushered into the gym. 8th grade will sit on one side of the gym, and 7th grade will sit on the other. Teachers are in the gym to help supervise and dismiss students.
- When 6th grade students enter, Team 6A will be ushered to the auxiliary gym, while Team 6B will be ushered to the carpeted area in the pod. Students are supervised in their respective areas.
- Students who want breakfast will report to the cafeteria.
- There are teacher supervisors in the hallways to help direct traffic.
- If a student receives a pass from the teacher to visit in the morning, he/ she will be able to report directly to their teacher once entering the building.
- Students also have access to the library both before and after school.
Our first bell rings at 7:25, and students are in a staggered dismissal to ensure that hallways are relatively clear. This will give students 10 minutes of time to get to their lockers, unpack, use the restroom and then report to their first hour by 7:35AM.
Our EMS students have done an excellent job over the last two weeks! Keep up the great work!
After-School Events Attendance
Students are expected to remain in the stands during the games unless utilizing restroom or concessions. Middle school students will have a designated section in the south end zone on the field and will have access to the nearby visitor concessions and restrooms.

PAWS Tutoring Program is BACCKKKK!!!
Some Guidance For Students Who Participate in PAWS:
1. Most likely, teachers will initiate the PAWS support for students.
2. Students will be able to practice their academics with support, but this isn't a time for one-on-one tutoring.
3. If your student is a car-rider, he/ she will need to be picked up by 4:40PM.
4. We encourage parents to collaborate with teachers on the purpose of the time, while the goal is to complete work with guidance, it is not a guarantee that students finish between 3:00-4:30PM.
There will be late bus service for students who stay after school. A teacher will be on-hand for extra academic support.

Brainstorming strategies for District plan
The Strategic Planning Committee spent time on Oct. 3 brainstorming strategies in three broad focus areas. Participants worked in groups to suggest and discuss ways in which the District might focus its energy and resources. The resulting lists are being compiled to find common areas of emphasis. Committee members discussed an upcoming public forum, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Ray-Pec High School. Also at the meeting, the group heard from Stan Elliott, Director of the Missouri Innovation Campus. He talked about preparing students for a variety of college and career paths.
