Congratulations to our OBOB Teams!
We would like to congratulate our two OBOB teams today, DA GOATS and Fiction Addiction! Both teams did an amazing job, as did all the teams leading up to today's competition. Congratulations to team Fiction Addiction, who will represent Hawks View Elementary at OBOB Regionals on Saturday, March 11th, competing with up to 24 other schools!

Math Night @ Hawks View
We are excited to bring Math Night back to Hawks View this year! Please join us on February 23rd from 5:00-7:00 pm, for pizza & games. During this event, classrooms will have an assortment of games set up for students to play with their families. Additionally, there will be estimation jars, community partners, prizes and more! It’s a great opportunity to experience a bit of our curriculum, have students teach their families games and test your math skills!
Elementary Family Code Night
We are excited to offer our first ever K-5 Family Code Night on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, from 6:00-7:30 pm at Ridges Elementary (21472 SE Copper Terrace, Sherwood). Come enjoy pizza, Hour of Code activities, and raffle prizes. Devices will be provided at the event. This night is open to all SSD students in grades K-5 and their adults.

Lockdown Drills at All Schools (February 27-March 10)
All schools in our District will be participating in lockdown drills February 27-March 10. These drills are an essential part of our emergency preparedness, and help students and staff to practice specific protocols that would occur in an emergency situation. This will be the second lockdown drill of the year and will not be announced to students or staff in advance to allow for an accurate observation of any response protocols that need improvement or additional training. Practice drills such as these are also an opportunity for our administrators and staff to collaborate with the Sherwood Police Department. You may notice increased police presence if you are on/near campus during a lockdown drill, as SPD officers do participate in these drills.
During a lockdown drill, staff and students are secured within their individual classrooms/offices, and there is no movement in the building. No one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus until the drill has been completed.

Kinder Open House
If you have an incoming kindergartener for the 2023-2024 school year, please mark your calendars! The Sherwood School District Kindergarten Open House will be held on March 2nd, 3:30 to 6:00 pm. More information will be made available in the coming weeks. Please pass this information along to anyone you know who may not receive these email updates.
Registration for 2023-2024 is now open. Paper copies of the registration forms are available in the office if needed.
Pre-K Open House and Registration
We are excited to share that our Hawks View PreK class is now open for registration! Our PreK is open to students who are age 4 on or before September 1, 2023. More information about our PreK program, and information about registration, can be found linked here.
In addition, we will be holding a PreK Open House on Tuesday, March 7th from 4-5 pm. All families are welcome to attend to meet our PreK staff, tour our PreK classroom, and learn more about our PreK program! Families will enter through the main building entrance. If you know of someone not receiving our Ridges newsletters that may be interested in attending, please pass along this information to them!
