Elementary Update

January 4, 2021

Dear Oakdale Family,

Hello, Everyone-

Welcome back to school! I hope your Winter Break was awesome and look forward to seeing smiling faces tomorrow morning behind all of those masks (I can still tell they are smiling)! Teachers are at school today for "teacher school" where they learn about all sorts of cool things and have time to collaborate with one another to prepare for a great start to the second semester.

School will resume in Orange 2 tomorrow, which is consistent with how things were before Winter Break. Our hope is to move back to Orange 1 once the county COVID numbers begin to trend downward; but until then, we are ready to roll with Orange 2 until we can safely move down. If you haven't already, make sure your child has a mask ready for tomorrow. It might be helpful to keep a spare mask in your child's backpack, as the free ones from the office aren't as exciting as the ones from home.

PALS are resuming this week and the link to sign up is below. If you are new to Oakdale, our teachers rely on our PALS program from our PTC where parent volunteers make copies, cut out lamination, etc. once a week. If you have never been a PAL before, but are interested, we would love to have you! Kelly Ashford is in charge of PALS and can set you up and answer any questions you might have. Oakdale Safety Measures

Masks are required for staff and students. Students will only be allowed to remove masks outside while social distancing and while eating lunch.
Students will be asked to maintain social distancing whenever possible.
Hand sanitizer will be used at every transition, and hand-washing will be encouraged whenever possible.
Desks and hard surfaces will be wiped down periodically throughout the school day.

Bundle Up!

We NEED our mask breaks and outdoor recess more than ever this year. Please send your child with appropriate outerwear for extended breaks in the cold weather.
