SGE Family Newsletter
For the Week of March 21-25

Estimados Padres,
Gracias,
Mrs. O’Hair
Directora de la Escuela Elemental de Shady Grove

Behind the scenes at SGE last week...
Congratulations to FIVE new "Caught with Character" recipients from the week before Spring Break! Teachers said the following about these students:
-"When a friend is crying or hurt, she stops to give them a pat."
-She shared her own stickers with kids who ride the bus.
-He "is not afraid to speak up when he sees someone being mistreated by their peers."
-"Her love of learning shows in her academic growth in math and reading!"
This next "Caught with Character" recognition comes from a parent who was an on-campus visitor during the Adventure Dash...
"A parent volunteer noticed his manners at the Adventure Dash Fun Run. He said 'Please' and 'Thank you' and picked up the empty cups that were on the ground."
Way to make SGE proud, kiddos!
Academics + CHARACTER = Success

Ongoing Reminders and Quick Links
Birthdays!
Is your child celebrating a birthday? Feel free to send individually wrapped birthday treats for your child's class. The teacher will serve them at an appropriate time according to each class's end-of-day schedule.
Please keep in mind the "individually wrapped" condition when planning the treat to send with your student. Individually wrapped treats minimize exposure to extra handling.
Car Line Reminders
-Are you parking on Harvey St. by the grove of trees to drop-off in the morning? If so, please walk your child to a staff member in the front of the building rather than sending him/her to walk alone. Please also avoid blocking residential driveways and bus traffic.
-No in-person pick-up after 3:00pm until the car line is finished. As we work to dismiss our students in a timely and orderly fashion, we must keep the front entry/exit doors uncrowded. As a result, parents needing to check their students out must do so before 3:00pm or after the car line is finished.
Other general reminders:
-Help us keep the line moving as quickly and safely as possible by staying in your car, seating your student on the right side of the vehicle, and giving goodbye hugs and kisses before the drop-off line!
-If adults need to exit the car for any reason (to walk student in, to help student unbuckle, etc), please park in a parking space and walk your child across the crosswalk.
