A Thanksgiving video message from Superintendent Heinz
Annual Staff Giving Campaign
Dear District 15 Employee:
The new year brings with it the beginning of District 15’s annual fundraising drive. This year, our charitable efforts will benefit our very own one-five Foundation.
The one-five Foundation is dedicated to raising money to give away to staff by acquiring resources to be used to enhance programs and support innovative projects that will supplement the educational experience of District 15 students. To date, the one-five has invested nearly $2 million toward enhancing the educational experience of our students through various programs and events. We are beyond grateful for their partnership, but need your help to continue to grow what they are able to provide staff and students in D15.
This year, the one-five Foundation has set a truly exciting and lofty multi-year goal to fundraise in order to provide flexible seating in every school's LRC! Additionally, they are passionate about expanding our Blessings in a Backpack program in order to ensure our neediest students have food over the weekend when free school meals are unavailable. We are so thankful for our partnership with the one-five and, again, need your help to make these goals become a reality!
This year the District’s fundraising drive will run from Nov. 7-22 and we are hoping that all 2,000 employees will help contribute — no amount is too large or too small. The following two methods are available for staff to make contributions:
Payroll Deduction: Deductions will begin January 15, 2020 and will continue through May 29, 2020. Contributors using payroll deduction must contribute a minimum of $10 ($1 per paycheck) and deductions will be made equally on all 10 paychecks.
Personal Check: Employees wishing to contribute in one payment should do so by personal check payable to the one-five Foundation.
Staff that contribute $50 or more will be entered into a raffle for a PAID DAY OFF OF WORK!
Together, District 15 employees can truly make a real difference in the ongoing effort to ensure our students have access to food over the weekend and that our staff and student benefit from 21st century flexible seating to our LRCs. We encourage you to please give generously and assist the Foundation in its work to support our students and school community. Let’s do this D15—together we can do anything we set our minds to!

Winter Weather Protocols
As we enter the winter season, we want to remind staff of the district’s emergency closing protocol. The school district takes the responsibility of deciding to close schools very seriously, and will only close in the event of extremely inclement weather.
If school is canceled, that decision is made by 5 a.m. You will be notified of the closure in a variety of ways:
Phone, Text, and Email—District 15 will send a message to all parents and staff through a voice call, text message and email. Staff: If you want to receive text messages from the district, you must log into Skyward and edit your contact information to reflect your mobile number in the "phone 2" field. If you have trouble accessing Skyward, please contact Lucy Gazda in Data Services.
Website—If classes are canceled due to inclement weather, an announcement will be posted on ccsd15.net and all of our school websites.
Social Media—School closures will be posted on the district’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
Radio and TV—Should a snow day be called, District 15 will inform television and radio stations.
For more information on emergency school closures and severe cold response plans, please visit our website.

D15 Standout Staff: Elizabeth Lope!
"I am so happy that our CLA preschoolers get on Elizabeth’s bus. She is always friendly and kind, and greets each student by name and with a smile. Our preschoolers, in turn, also board the bus happily. She has a calm demeanor as the kids get on the bus, and provides a relaxing environment with soothing music. She's incredibly kind, compassionate, and understanding. It is a pleasure to walk our students out to her bus and see her every afternoon." - Melissa Hernandez
