Brooks News to Know
Parent-Teacher Conference on Thursday, February 8th, 2018
Families, you should have received an email communication from the Team Leader of your student's team outlining the details of our upcoming Parent-Teacher conferences on Thursday, February 8th. If you did not receive this communication, please contact the main office. They will be able to put you in touch with the appropriate team leader to answer any of your questions about the upcoming p/t conferences.
February 8th and February 9th Student half-day attendance
Students will be in attendance from 9am to 12pm on both days. Bus service is provided to and from school for those that usually ride the bus.
Second Step/ParenTeen Connect
Link to: https://www.parenteenconnect.org
Brooks students participate in weekly advisory lessons to build their social and emotional skills using a curriculum called Second Step. ParenTeen Connect is a resource for parents that works alongside the Second Step Program by giving middle schoolers and their parents the opportunity to hear from other teens and parents, get expert advice on tough issues, and access practical tools to help them connect and communicate better at home. Use this great resource to help guide conversations with your middle schooler about important topics like screen time, independence, responsibility and communication skills.
Author Visit
On February 15, 2018, author Liesl Shurtliff will be visiting Brooks. More information about the schedule VERY soon, but here’s the flyer to order discounted books through Magic Tree to be autographed by the author. Please share with kids and order for yourself!
More Library News!
Thanks to a partnership between Google Applied Digital Learning and Donor’s Choose, I was able to get a 3D printer and filament for our library that will be accessible to all teachers and their students. The materials have arrived, and we will be working on ways to integrate this 21st century technology into classes.
