Career Counseling
This is our last week of the career counseling unit! We have been so impressed with the quality of your work and have enjoyed reading about your career interests. Remember that all career counseling materials can be found in Schoology. This week, First, Second, and Third Graders are tasked to interview trusted adult about their career choice and journey. Fourth and Fifth graders are to please complete your career mini-research projects. If you have any questions, please contact your school counselor.
Self-Compassion
As the pandemic continues on, it is imperative that we have self-compassion. It is okay to feel sad, overwhelmed, anxious (we call these "big uncomfortable feelings" with the students). What is important is how you manage those feelings. Below is an info-graphic that offers three ways to practice self-compassion. In the Second Step Curriculum, students learn to stop, name their feeling, and calm down (see right). The info-graphic below suggests that you do the same. It is important that you first notice and label the emotion that you are experiencing. Moreover, finding connection to others and being kind to yourself are avenues to self-compassion. We are all going through unprecedented times - you are doing the best that you can and we appreciate you!
