H.O.T. Schools is Back!
Concord Magnet is proud to announce that we are HOT again!
Back in 2000, CMS was named a HOT (Higher Order Thinking) School by the CT Commission on the Arts. This program provided us with extensive professional development, art residencies, and grant money. The program eventually closed but CMS has continued using the HOT strategies including strong arts, art integration and democratic practice.
Arts for Learning Connecticut is excited to have re-launched Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Schools. HOT Schools is a whole-school, deep impact, teaching and learning program designed to enrich school culture, expand teacher practice, and improve student engagement through a variety of arts learning strategies. Grounded in Social and Emotional Learning, Culturally Responsive Teaching, and Multiple Intelligence Theory, this program utilizes a skilled roster of teaching artists to provide professional development, arts-integrated residences, workshops, and performances in K-12 schools across the state.
Last Friday our students were treated to an acrobatic performance by HOT artist Li Liu. In the future, HOT artists will work with grade-level teachers to enhance the curriculum through arts integration.

Introducing . . .
Lindsay Frankum, School Counselor
Hello CMS Families!
I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to you all. I am the School Counselor at Concord Magnet School K-8, as well as Jefferson Elementary School. This year I will be assisting with teaching your children social and emotional learning skills that they need to excel in school and throughout life, as well as supporting them and their teachers in these areas. I am excited to be working with your children. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me via email, phone, or Class Dojo.
Charles Duff, Media Specialist
Hello all! I am so happy to be here at CMS!
I have been a Media Specialist for about ten years and have worked in all grade levels K-12. Previous to coming to CMS, I was a Media Specialist in Danbury for eight years. I enjoy reading as much I enjoy working with technology. My speciality is filmmaking. I have a one year old daughter and I am a big New York Yankees fan!
Please schedule time to see me on the "Teacher/Class Signup" tab above.
