THE LION'S ROAR!
October 7, 2022
A Message from our Pride Leader
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you all who kicked off our first night of Parent Teacher Conferences this Thursday! It is so wonderful to see families in the building connecting with our staff. The partnership between home and school is invaluable, and we appreciate all that you do to support your child's learning here at Norris. We can't wait to continue our conferences next week on Tuesday and Wednesday- call the office if you need to schedule, we do have available time slots!
When you enter the building for conferences, please be sure to look in our Lost and Found for any missing jackets, visit Mrs. Harris for the Stuffie Auction Library Fundraiser, and seek out technology support! Mrs. Harris is happy to help you download apps such as SeeSaw, ParentVue, Google Classroom, and more.
Don't forget that we have Fall Break next week, and there is no school for students on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday!
Best,
Mrs. Dolezal, Principal

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
This month our classroom counseling lessons in grades K-5 will focus on skills of resiliency, coping strategies and how to get help for oneself and/or a friend. These lessons are intended to educate students on feelings of stress, worry, sadness, how to cope with such feelings, and how to ask for help if needed. Students will identify coping strategies and trusted adults at school and outside of school to whom they can go for help.
Please talk with your child about these feelings, and reinforce appropriate coping strategies such as talking with a trusted adult, exercising, or doing an activity they enjoy. Please contact Laurie Fitzpatrick, School Counselor (lafitzpatrick@mpsomaha.org or 402-715-8340-Norris or 402-715-8345-Sandoz) with any questions.NORRIS PUMPKIN PATCH
This year rather than just teachers participating in making the pumpkins we are extending this out to our Norris Families! We are asking that each entry represent ONE Norris Family, not each individual student within a family. (EX. If you have 4 children here at Norris, you would only have 1 entry for the contest, not 4). You may make more than 1 pumpkin that ties in with your theme if you would like. Pumpkins can be dropped off on Monday morning, October 17, 2022, between 7:30 - 8:00AM! Participants, please watch your email for further drop-off/set up information.
During the week of October 17-21, teachers and students will be voting for their favorite pumpkin display by placing monetary donations in a collection can in front of each entry. Money raised will go to the United Way.
The pumpkin that receives the most donations will be declared the winner and will receive a gift card prize for a family night!
