WSES NEWS
February 2020
Greetings from Mrs. Azure
Thank you for supporting the students in their jump roping fund raiser and other heart activities we did this month. It is important for us to not only educate the students on healthy hearts but for them to give back to our community with the funds they raise.
Spartan's Got Talent was a huge success. We will be putting pictures together on a separate news letter to share with everyone. It was enjoyable to see ALL the talent and courage our kids have to get up and perform in front of a large audience. I truly enjoyed working with the 6th grade class in planning this project. HUGE THANKS to everyone for supporting the bake sale, silent auction, and talent show with their generous donations. Money will be donated to the pool project and the rec center.
I hope February was a sweet month for everyone,
Mrs. Azure
Interviewing High School Artist Kenzee Schafer By: Alexis Roesler and Brooklyn Caffee
This is Alexis Roesler and Brooklyn Caffee and we are interviewing Kenzee Schafer on her big dragon clay sculpture. We are asking her questions. Here are the questions. Why did you pick this project? "I wanted to do something other than paintings and I didn’t think that I could make the dragon." Do you like dragons? She said, “most definitely.” Do you like art and why? "Yes, because I can do it and it makes me happy." How do you have patience for this project? "I decided to do it and do it well no matter how long it would take." Was your project hard? "Yes, it was stressful because it might fall apart or blow up. Brooklyn and Alexis think that she is a great artist and she should always do art.

AR AWARDS by Kaebry Dixon and Morgan Mentele
Our school has been doing AR awards for over 15 to 20 years. We earn these awards by reading books every day and take tests on them to earn points and the points go towards the awards. First you earn a plaque. Next you earn plates to put on your plaque. When you get to level 12 you get a letter and a pin to put on your coat. I'm Kaebry and this year I got my 3rd level plate. And I'm Morgan this year I got my 5th level plate. Kids work hard to get the awards. Some Kids get even higher then 1000 point which equals the pin on your coat.

The Sledding Hill By Jaspur Gran and Hynes Bothma
Have you been to the sledding hill, ice rink, and field house this winter? We have and it is a lot of fun.I have a big, orange sled and a black sled. The orange sled is faster than the black sled. I slow the sled down by throwing out the rope. Sometimes that is dangerous. When it is icy I go really fast on my orange sled. The hay bales at the bottom of the hill are there to stop you from hitting the telephone poles. The rope is there to help pull you up the big hill. The rope is getting too damaged and if there are too many people on it it stops pulling. The rope is now too low and it hits my head every time I go on it.
The Field house is where you get your ice skates. They have hot chocolate and cookies for you to eat and sometimes popcorn. It is all free. It is a good place to warm up.
I hope you had fun at the sledding hill like I did this year.
