NATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY

Mark your calendars: National Walk to School Day is October 6th!

All K-8 students will have the opportunity to participate in this event. The goal of this day is to raise awareness and support for the health, community, and environmental benefits of regularly walking to school.

Concord Staff will be meeting students on River Street (by the old Medical Center). Parents who regularly drop their students off at school can start dropping them off at 7:40AM. Buses will also be dropping students off at this location. Concord Staff will begin walking with students to the school at 7:50AM. Those who cannot participate can still be dropped off at school as staff will be there as well. If you have any questions about the event, how to participate, or would like additional information please contact Mike Arbuckle.

HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR NEWS

Attention Class of 2022 - if you are now, think you may, or have any inclination that you would like to attend college, then you will want to join us on Wednesday, October 6th in the high school Media Center for our FAFSA night. FAFSA is a student's way of saying they would like to attend college and would like to know what kind of financial assistance, whether it is a loan, grant, etc. that the government can offer to a student to help with the financial aspect of going to college. Many scholarships are now requiring that this is done in order to apply for their specific scholarship. Please watch your email for further information about this opportunity. Again, the FAFSA event is Wednesday, October 6th from 6:30-7:30.

Any junior or senior who may have Grand Valley State University on their radar to attend college can meet with one of their representatives on Wednesday, October 27th. You must be on the sign-up sheet in order to meet with the representative before the day of the visit.

Reminder, if you would like to have an individual meeting with Mrs. Otto, you will need to sign up on the clipboard found to the left of her office door.

K-8 SEL CORNER - YELLOWJACKETS OF THE WEEK!!!

Please take the time to congratulate any familiar faces you see in the picture below because they are our most CONFIDENT YellowJackets!

Confident means feeling sure of yourself and your abilities (talents, things you’re good at, etc.)- not in an arrogant way (an arrogant person might say something like, “I’m better than you at…”), but in a realistic, secure way. Confidence isn’t about feeling superior to (better than) others; it’s a quiet inner knowledge that you are an awesome, capable person!

BOOSTING CONFIDENCE

Affirmations are an easy way to boost your confidence, remind you of your positive qualities (or future goals), and promote a positive mindset. For these reasons, and to showcase their confidence skills, Mrs. Roth's class decided to practice and share personal affirmations with their hive!
