Welcome to the start of a new school year! This past week the faculty and staff of Mount Holly Elementary School worked tirelessly to get their classrooms and the school prepared for the first day of school. We're looking forward to meeting and greeting lots of smiling student and parent faces on Monday, August 19, 2019.

New Principal Introduction: Mrs. Jacqueline Gist Jones

I'm excited to be joining the Mount Holly Mustang Family as the new school principal. This year, I will be entering my 26th year in education, all in Rock Hill Schools. I was a 5th grade teacher at Independence Elementary School for 15 years. I served as an Assistant Principal for 4 years at Finley Road Elementary School and Northside Elementary School. More recently, I was the Principal of The Children's School at Sylvia Circle and Ebenezer Avenue Elementary-Montessori for 7 years.

I am married to Tim Jones and we have two daughters, Jada (15) and Layla (13). I enjoy spending time with family, attending sporting events (especially watching my daughters compete), reading, watching TV, and shopping.

Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival and Dismissal:

  • Students can be dropped off no earlier than 7:00 AM. The warning bell for school to begin rings at 7:40 AM. At that time, all safety patrol students and adult monitors will go inside to begin the school day. One staff member will remain outside until the tardy bell rings at 7:45 AM. Any student arriving after 7:45 AM will have to be escorted by a parent/guardian to the main office for a tardy pass.
  • Student dismissal begins at 2:25 PM.
  • Early Dismissal - We encourage you to try to schedule your child’s doctor and dental appointments after school hours. If this is not possible, you must come to the office first to check your child out. Your license or a government issued ID will be required for dismissing a child. If someone other than the parent signs the child out, that person must provide permission from the parent before the child will be permitted to leave the building. No sign-outs are allowed after 2:00, unless an appointment card is provided.


Visitors who are on school business are welcomed at school; however, immediately upon entering the school grounds, all visitors must sign-in at the school office with a state-issued ID or driver’s license and state the nature of their visit. Anyone failing to comply with the check-in procedure will be asked to leave the campus. All classroom visits must be scheduled with the principal and/or teacher.

Rock Hill School District requires anyone who is volunteering in our schools to be an approved volunteer. To complete an application for this, please click on the link below and follow all of the steps on the application. When you complete the application, your information will go directly to Background Investigations Bureau (BIB).

Please check the email account that you entered on your Volunteer Application during the approval process and BIB will keep you updated on the progress of your application. This process takes from 2 business days to 10 business days. If you don't immediately see an email, please check your spam or junk folder.

You will receive an email from BIB giving you the outcome of your application. If you are approved as a volunteer, they will send you a Volunteer card in the mail to the address you listed in your application within 2 weeks. Once you receive this card, take it with you to the school and the school personnel will enter you into their Check In system as a volunteer. If you are not approved as a volunteer, BIB will send you a letter in the mail giving you specific instructions on following up with them regarding your application.

Volunteers must re-apply every 2 years. BIB will send you a reminder to re-apply 6-8 weeks before your Volunteer status is set to expire. They will send this reminder to the email you listed on your application.

Please make sure you begin this process early in the school year. The district is not able to expedite any applications.
