Getting to Know the Department
Ashauna Lindo (Math Virtual School Teacher)
My love for math began as a little kid. I could spend a number of hours making up math problems and solving them with my make-believe students. With the misconception that teaching is not a prestigious career, I entered the University of Houston to study medicine and become a doctor; but something kept pulling me towards math and eventually I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics.
Shortly after, I completed my Masters in Math/Math Education from UH. I’m currently in the process of going for my Doctorate in Math/Learning, Design & Technology. I have a beautiful 8 year old daughter named Alayna in which I spend and invest a lot of my time. I also enjoy reading; traveling the world and relaxing when time spears J
My first year in teaching was at MacArthur 9th Grade School in Aldine. I am elated with memories of joy as I reminisce my first year as a secondary teacher. I knew within the first week I fell right into my gift of teaching, it came naturally; I was passionate and enjoyed teaching math in a way my students could understand.
I transitioned to Davis High School opening year which was an amazing new experience. I take great joy in creating a classroom climate that is conducive to the growth of student knowledge through memorable and relatable coursework experiences and nurturing the mind with hands on activities.
I’ve had the opportunity to work and assist students through online learning over the last couple of years and I’m thrilled our students are given the ability to enhance their technology knowledge as it truly prepares them for college and beyond.
As a virtual school facilitator for math I’m able to create a classroom environment that can be accessed using 21st century platforms and resources that give our students the ability to succeed in their coursework. I’m truly honored and grateful to be given the opportunity to work with online learning; it is astonishing to witness the magnitude of success when our students are given the tools that are aligned to their generation.
I truly believe, in order to produce the nation’s best; we as educators have to consistently, passionately, respectfully and effortlessly give them our best in everything we do.

Spreadsheets
Thank you for all the lab teachers who have updated their spreadsheets. Remember that your SLOs are now linked to the data on your spreadsheets, so it is vital that you update them weekly.
There have been several teachers who have sent and/or shared with me their own spreadsheet. Every teacher must complete the information on the master teacher spreadsheet copy. I am including a video on how to input your data on the master copy.
Please click here for the master copy.
