Marysville Message
April 30 2021
Dear Families,
I just have a little information to share with you today. We will be sending out a May School Newsletter with more information next week.
Some preview highlights are:
Marysville Virtual Talent Show
Are you a 3rd-8th grader with a special talent you would like to share with others? Consider submitting a video entry that is 3 minutes or less highlighting your skill! As long as the content (music, jokes, etc.) are school appropriate, it will be part of the show. Email me, Audrey Rozell, and let me know what you are planning on doing for the show: arozell@impactnw.org
Entries are due by Friday, May 21st. When you use your phone to video, hold it horizontal. If you would like me to video your performance, please let me know in advance so that I can schedule a time to meet with you. This would take place outdoors only.
MAY IS ASIAN AMERICAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER MONTH: We will be celebrating this in our classes. The Portland Association of Teachers have created many wonderful lessons for schools to use throughout the month. The lessons will teach about AAPI history, intersectional AAPI identities and AAPI joy.
Overall, the PAT AAPI Month lessons aim to:
Help students understand inequities based on race
Affirm that the lives of people of color matter
Promote the belief that we all have a responsibility to work for equity as a core ideal
Center Pacific Islander heritage
Highlight Asian American history
Celebrate AAPI joy!

NS FOOD AND SUPPLY SUBSTITUTIONS
The impact on the national supply chain due to COVID, restaurants and other businesses reopening, and the back up at the Port of Los Angeles have all impacted our ability to receive food and supplies as we have menued and ordered. For these reasons, families may see changes in packaging - how foods are packaged and the style of bag that we serve the meals in or how foods are packed may be different between schools based on what they have on hand to use. Families may also experience substitutions on the menu. With these impacts, we are still committed to offering all students breakfast and lunch for free. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this time. If you have questions, please feel free to contact our department - nutritionservices@pps.net.
