#BeABlessing Campaign

The Academy Board of Directors is excited to once again launch the #BeABlessing campaign this holiday season for employees. Nearly 250 Academy teachers and staff work tirelessly for our children every day, and this is an opportunity for you to recognize their commitment and dedication. During the month of December, we encourage you to look for simple ways to #BeABlessing to Academy staff. Whether it's sending your child’s teacher a small gift card to their favorite coffee spot, or writing a note of thanks to a staff member, the time you take to recogonize an employee means the world to them. We even have ways for you to help bless the team members working hard in the background that you may not see, but who are critical to the experience our children have at school.

Please take a moment to watch this short video from one of our Board Members, Larissa Fransau. To donate to the #BeABlessing campaign, you can give using the QR code located on the upper right hand corner or by using this link: #BeABlessing.

Many of our staff have completed the Academy Staff Favorite Things spreadsheet, so you can use that to see what little gifts they may enjoy. Never underestimate the power of the written word - people love to receive handwritten notes.

Thank you for your support,

The Academy Board

Important News from the Registrar’s Office

Can you believe it's already time to secure your student’s enrollment for the 2023-24 school year? We can’t either! Parents will complete Intent to Return forms using the same PowerSchool site used for online check-in; this is not your parent portal.

On Sunday, January 1, 2023 you will receive an email from PowerSchool with a link and Snapcode for each of your students. If you did not complete the online check-in, there will be instructions on how to create your account within this email.

The deadline to return completed Intent to Return forms is Friday, January 13, 2023. This will be the only opportunity to secure a seat for students currently attending The Academy for the 2023-24 school year. If your student will not be returning to The Academy, you must still complete the Intent to Return form and indicate where the student will be attending and why they are transferring.

Thank you for your assistance.

The 2023-24 Lottery is Open

The 2023-24 lottery window is now open. If you have a student that currently does not attend The Academy but you would like them to at the beginning of the 2023-24 school year, you can submit a lottery application today. Access to The Academy lottery application can be found by clicking here.

If your family has students currently attending The Academy, you MUST complete the lottery application for those you wish to enroll. There will be a place for you to indicate that the applicant has a sibling who currently attends The Academy.

Please spread the word to family and friends who might be interested in becoming part of our community. Word of mouth is the best advertisement and the nicest compliment.

The lottery window is open through January 15, 2023.

Mental Health During the Holiday Season

Breaks from school are sometimes relaxing, and sometimes stressful! Sometimes breaks are welcome relief from the regular schedule, and sometimes not having a routine can result in feeling lost. We know that spending time together can allow conversations to occur about needs and resources for mental health, and we want to help prepare students & families to have difficult conversations as well as finding resources that work for them.

If you are concerned that your student may be experiencing changes in their mood or experiencing suicidal behaviors or thoughts, please remember to:

  • Stay with the student until you are sure they are safe.
  • If there is an immediate threat to your student or other students, call 911.

Local Immediate Crisis Resources:

  • Colorado Crisis Services Line, 1-844-493-TALK (8255): This 24/7 toll-free hotline is available 365 days a year for anyone affected by a mental health, substance use or emotional crisis. All calls are connected to a mental health professional that will provide immediate support and connections to further resources.
  • Crisis Text Service: Anyone can text the word TALK to 38255 anytime, from anywhere in Colorado about any type of crisis. This feature is available 24/7. Visit Home - Colorado Crisis Services for more information.
  • Colorado Crisis Walk-In Locations: Walk-in crisis service locations are open 24/7 and offer confidential, in-person crisis support, information and referrals to anyone who needs it. Walk-in locations can be found on the Colorado Crisis Services website at ColoradoCrisisServices.org.
  • Crisis Chat Service: On ColoradoCrisisServices.org, individuals can chat with specialists for online emotional support, crisis intervention and suicide assessments. This feature is available from 4 p.m. to midnight, seven days a week.
  • Safe2Tell: Call 877-542-7233, text S2T to 274637, download Safe2Tell app, or visit S2T CO | Make a Call. Make a Difference (safe2tell.org)
  • (National) Suicide/Crisis Lifeline: 800-273-8255
  • Seize the Awkward: Very functional resource to offer to just start having the “awkward” conversation when you are concerned about someone’s behavior or think they might be experiencing suicidal thoughts
  • Helping a Suicidal Person: Easy to read, step-by-step guide that helps peers support friends going through suicidal ideation
