Renaissance
Essential Question: How did the renaissance impact Europe?
The Renaissance impacted Europe and the world by advancing our culture with art, poetry, and theater.
The art isn't the only impact, there are others, but this one intrigued me most. William Shakespeare is one of the most well known contributors to this. Shakespeare is well known for his plays, but did you know that he also wrote poetry? Well more of sonnets than poems. Sonnets are 14 line long poems with strict rhythm. Along paintings and plays, poetry was also a nice contributor, and books too! Michelangelo, Raphael were also contributors. Everyone knows of Mona Lisa. She is art and she is a huge contribution.
The Prince
Machiavelli was also a contributor. He wrote a book called The Prince. A quote from The Prince is "Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? It may be answered that one should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them into one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved, when, of the two, either must be dispensed with ... fear preserves you by a dread of punishment which never fails." - The Prince.
