Blue Jay News
OCE newsletter to maximize home and school communication.
The First Week of School!
Can you believe we've finished the first week of school? I hope you're hearing wonderful stories each night from your children because we feel like it has been a great first week. We truly believe our school is special and there is no other school like it! We believe it because of the children who inspire us to be better and to give our all each day. They deserve it. We have dedicated teachers who work hard to be their best because they want to make a difference in the lives of your children. We are fortunate to have such a supportive community. Oyster Creek is indeed a very special school and this is going to be a great year!
My newsletters will be weekly from this point on unless I need to provide you with time sensitive information. We are looking forward in October to the launch of our new school website. It's going to take our home and school communication to the next level.
Have a good weekend and Go Blue Jays!

Gifted & Talented Program Information
Parents & Guardians,
The Gifted & Talented Program is designed to meet the unique educational needs of gifted students. Fort Bend ISD provides GT services in math, science, English language arts, and social studies at all grade levels and all District campuses. If you would like to find out more about FBISD Gifted and Talented Program, please attend an informational meeting on either September 7 or September 19, from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at the FBISD Administration Annex Main Auditorium. This meeting will provide parents information about the Gifted and Talented (GT) Program, the characteristics of a gifted child, and the FBISD identification process. The meeting is to help parents decide if they should refer their children for the GT Program. You may refer your child for testing without attending this meeting.
To refer your child to be tested for the Gifted & Talented Program, complete one of the steps below.
- Preferred Method: complete a parent referral form in Family Access - Family Access may be found at www.fortbendisd.com
- Alternative Method: complete and return a referral form to the school counselor
The form is available for download at www.fortbendisd.com/gifted or may be obtained from the school office.
All referrals must be completed online through Family Access or returned to Mrs. Armiger by September 30, 2016. Students currently identified as Gifted and Talented do not need to be referred to maintain their current identification. Identified students should only be referred if they wish to be tested for identification in additional subject areas.
If you have questions, contact the GT Office at 281-634-1129.
FBISD Administration Annex is located at 3119 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land 77479
**Please be advised that children are not allowed in the Annex per building policy.

We will make sure our car rider line moves as quickly as possible to prevent parents from dropping their students off in the school parking lot. It is a safety hazard for children to walk without a parent around moving cars. Thank you for cooperating with our staff to keep all of our students and adults safe!
