Also known as the Seven Years War

It lasted from 1756-1763. It was between France and Britain over the Ohio River Valley. Britain officially declared war in 1756 after there had been several battles.

The war was very expensive for Britain. To pay for the war Britain imposed more taxes on the American Colonies.

1757 - Turning point in the war - new Prime Minister William Pitt

1758 British won the first major battle at Louisbourg.

Treaty of Paris - 1763

Britain got Canada but they gave France the West Indian Sugar Islands. They gave Spain Louisiana. Britain could now move west of the Mississippi.
