Mrs. Gorman's Weekly News
January 8-12, 2018
Picture Day
Picture day is Tuesday, January 9. Students are allowed to dress their best for their pictures. I encourage them to bring a change of clothes for PE in the afternoon.
Science Fair
The science fair is this Thursday, January 11. Each scholar should be here to stand by their display board and explain their project. The science fair begins at 6 pm.
No School
There is no school on Friday, January 12 or Monday, January 15. Please encourage your scholar to log on to i-Ready while they are out of school.
Homework
I have noticed that, throughout the last grading period, only a few students have been consistently turning in homework. The homework is an important part of reviewing what we have already covered, and previewing what we are going to cover in the future. Because most students are not doing the homework, I have decided to discontinue giving it for the time being. We will complete the homework in class as bell work. If you would like your scholar to do extra work at home, please have them log on to i-Ready or Mathletics.
Mrs. Gorman's Family Update
Thank you to all who have kept me and my family in their thoughts and prayers as we help care for my grandfather. He passed away peacefully a few days after Christmas. It has been difficult to accept the fact that he is no longer with us here on Earth, but I am happy that he did not suffer for very long.
As we move past this difficult time, we continue to ask for prayers for my father-in-law who has had some ongoing heart complications. He was hospitalized in Texas over the break a few days before my sister-in-law's wedding and was unable to attend. Although he has been released from the hospital, he must stay in Texas for some time to be monitored. We hope that he is able to return home to Florida some time next month.
