Loveland Leader
October 2022
Mission
The mission of Loveland elementary school, in partnership with our actively involved community, is to promote excellence and instill a desire for learning by challenging each individual within a safe, supportive environment.
Loveland's Expectations
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Dear Loveland Families
What makes the difference in how your child performs in school? The answer might surprise you. It’s not your child’s IQ, the teacher, the school, or your educational level. Although all of these play a part, study after study tells the same story. Children who do best in school have parents who are actively involved in their child’s education. One of the best ways to get involved is to continue building a strong parent-teacher partnership.
I ask that you come prepared to your communication conference with questions and information that will help both you and the teacher strengthen the team effort you share educating your child.
We look forward to seeing all of you during conferences!
Ms. Hornung

BOOK FAIR: October 10,11 &12
Food Safety
Please remember to follow the District Approved Snack List. Linked is the lists of what to bring for parties or birthdays. Thanks for helping to make Loveland a caring community for all of our students. We hope you have a fun and safe Halloween!
Loveland Halloween Update
Halloween is coming soon. It’s time to think about your costumes. For our school parade and party please wear only fun and friendly costumes. Fun and friendly excludes blood, gore, scary/frightening masks or clothing, and weapons. If anyone has questions concerning the appropriateness of a costume, please contact the office. Thank you for keeping things on the fun and light side!
Please do not have your child wear costumes to school. If your child's costume includes typical school-appropriate clothing or can be worn underneath, these are great options. Students will have time to change before the parade but need to do so with minimal assistance from teachers.
We would like to encourage parents to attend our annual costume parade at 2PM on October 31st. Our Kindergarten class will lead the parade and the students will parade around the Loveland playground track. If you are not able to attend the parade, we will record the event and post it in our weekly update email.
WHS Football Games
A quick reminder if you or your children plan to attend Varsity Home Football games this season.
- Elementary school students must sit with their families or chaperones in the bleachers at games this year.
- Children will not be permitted to run around unsupervised, play football, jump off retaining walls, play tag near large crowds, etc.
- Middle school students will continue to sit in bleachers in the south end zone area.
- High school students will continue to sit in the student section of the east bleachers.
Effective this week: no one will be allowed in the stadium after halftime.
Thank you for your continued support to make sure we have a welcoming, safe environment for all guests at Westside!

OCTOBER IS DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH
Loveland has established a Unified Circle of Friends program that promotes inclusion, friendship, and the opportunity to appreciate our different abilities. We also wanted to offer all families the chance to learn more about Down Syndrome during this month when we seek to raise awareness.
Locally, there are several organizations that provide leadership and education about Down Syndrome as well as other diverse abilities. We encourage families to explore these links and learn more. Talk with your child about how they can actively be a part of including and being a good friend to their peers. Both Loveland's Unified Club and our district's WE-SIDE Unified Activities are great ways for students to be involved and to promote fun, friendship, and inclusion!

Don't Forget - Wednesday Dismissal
Every Wednesday we will end the school day at 3:00 pm instead of 3:30 pm. This gives our teachers throughout the District collaboration time by attending weekly professional learning communities. Please plan accordingly to pick your child up at 3PM.
Extra Clothes Needed
The health office is in need of smaller size pants for boys and girls.(size 5-10) If you or anyone you know would be willing to donate any that your child has outgrown to Loveland's health office, we would really appreciate it!
Fall Temperatures
The temperatures have been and will be going up and down for the next few weeks. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing in the morning. Sweatshirts, fleeces, and lightweight jackets are easy to keep in a backpack in case of cooler temperatures at recess time.
