Hour of Code
The second week in December (12/9-12/13) marked the annual celebration of computer science week with the Hour of Code. This worldwide event included students in over 180 different countries and many at Endeavour Elementary too! The Hour of Code is actually available year round. If your student is interested in coding, check out the website linked below!
What Happened in the Library this Month???
Kindergarten
Kindergarten coded on iPads using the Daisy the Dinosaur app (free!). We also started our Washington Children's Choice Bracket Tourney. Each week we will read two nominees and vote on our favorite!
1st Grade
First grade got to code on the iPads using the Daisy the Dinosaur app (free!) and we tried an Angry Birds coding game on code.org. We also continued our Trickster Tales from Around the World, reading a tale from South America!
2nd Grade
Second grade finished up their study on Dinosaurs. We researched Dino's on PebbleGo, read many dinosaur books, coded Daisy the Dinosaur and built our own Dinosaurs out of LEGOs. Second graders also participated in the Hour of Code.
3rd Grade
Third grade continued to make progress on our Otter Award books. They also participated in the hour of code and had a digital citizenship lesson on private vs. personal information.
4th Grade
Fourth grade participated in the hour of code, had a digital citizenship lesson on Plagiarism and celebrated Scholastic's Graphix week!
5th Grade
Fifth grade has started their battle of the books unit. Students read the picture book nominees for the WCC award, take notes and then will be asked trivia questions about them. We will start the trivia game after break!
See you in 2020!
It has been a GREAT 2019 in the Endeavour library. I hope your kiddo has found some interesting new books and ideas to share with you. I am looking forward to 2020 and be on the lookout for our annual Snowperson Challenge contest starting in January!!
