The Tiger Times
Walnut Hill Elementary - February 20, 2021, Volume XIX
Principal Announcements
The Petersburg School Board voted to accept the recommendation of the superintendent for families to have the option for their children to return to in person instruction or to continue to participate in the Petersburg Virtual Academy (PVA) for the remainder of the school year. This recommendation was a follow up to the governor's expectation for students to return to school around March 15th.
There will be a survey made available this week for parents to make a commitment to allow their children to return to the building or continue in the PVA. Once the commitment has been made it will not be changed because of the required documentation, assignments and availability of teachers.
Considering we are still in a pandemic it is suggested that parents transport students to school and pick them up each day. Parents will drop students off at the school entrance and pick them up from that location. The school hours will continue to be 8:30-2:00 Monday thru Thursday and Friday will be Student Support Day at home. The students will be required to wear face masks all day for their protection and others. If students have a fever, sore throat, and/or headache, do not send them to school (See survey for other symptoms). We will practice all recommendations of the CDC guidelines. Students are expected to follow all Schools Board Policies while in the building. Considering the strict guidelines we will be required to follow, we will not be able to support students with excessive behavior challenges. Students will not be allowed to bring food from home or from restaurants into the building.
Once the survey is available, please be sure to complete it as soon as possible so we can plan to serve our students in the PVA and/or in the school building.
Let's have a ROARing Tiger week!
