Snow Day Changes

Akron Ram Families,

As you are fully aware, this has been a tough winter with an abundance of cold and snow. To date, we have used more snow days than any of us here at the school can remember going back several decades. Because of this fact, we will be utilizing our Fridays in exchange for any future snow days. If we take a snow day during the week on a scheduled school day, we will plan to go to school on the Friday of that week unless the weather continues to be a factor or we have an already scheduled day like a teacher in-service. If a snow day is called, we will include or send out an additional message that explains the Friday we will use in place of the snow day. We did consider a remote option but feel that our students would be better served with in-person learning. We have also put together a plan for a 10 a.m. late start in case we need to utilize this option. A late start would be communicated ahead of time just like a snow day. As with anything new, we may have some kinks to work out so please be flexible and understanding as we navigate this new process. We’ve reached a point in which we need to proactively protect the remaining instructional time of our students this school year.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Brian Christensen
