Mar. 20 - Mar. 24, 2023. Updates from the Academic Arts team

Dance

A Look Ahead: Kindergarten and First will keep exploring non-locomotor and locomotor movements with in the ballet unit. Students will learn the positions of their feet and arms as well as a varity of ballet vocabulary. Second through Fifth will jump into jazz as a dance form and explore different movements.


Highlights from Last Week: Loved getting to see how much everyone is growing within dance. Really enjoed seeing 2nd graders perform within the classroom their end of unit dances. They created everything themselves within small groups.


Reminders: Please remember if your child has dance to wear clothing that are great for moving while still keeping in mind the NCCAE dress code. As well as shoes that can easily come on and off.

Drama

Welcome to Drama Class Third Quarter with Ms. Gordon at NCCAE!


Students have been playing get-to-know-you games with Ms. Gordon, learning all about each other and how they can work together as a class to be successful!


Reminders: We SOAR in the drama room: Safe, Organized, Always Respectful, Responsible.

General Music

A Look Ahead: Instruments of the Orchestra & Quarterly Goodbyes


  • All Grade Levels will take a dive into the instruments of the orchestra and all of the orchestras beautiful aspects. Students will look into the career of a conductor, the four major instrument families, as well as play games about each instrument!
  • We are wrapping up our third quarter together, congratulations to all students for finishing music strongly!


Reminders: Continue to encourage students to work towards classroom goals and rewards.

Visual Art


A Look Ahead: classroom expectations, perspectives on art, lines and shapes, quilting

Highlights from Last Week: art contests, glazing ceramics, balancing cool and warm colors


Reminders: Students have access to smocks and t-shirts to protect clothing during all class sessions. Most materials wash out of most clothes most of the time, but encourage students to cover up to avoid stains.

Physical Education

A Look Ahead: Students in grades K-5 students will be playing team games called Sink the Ship. Students are working on throwing or rolling a ball with accuracy. Students are also learning teamwork and cooperation.


Highlights from Last Week: Students in PE last week Jumped Rope for exercise. Students had goal numbers they were trying to achieve and also see how far above their goal they can go.


Reminders: Students should wear sneakers on the day they have PE class.
