PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Greetings EES Families,

We had a terrific week of school that ended with a whole school meeting this morning. Students have been learning about the importance of a growth mindset and how practicing tricky things and making mistakes are the ways we learn, grow and get better. It was wonderful to celebrate altogether as a school.

Speaking of celebrating, Anna Meehan officially received her Outstanding Educator Award at UVM on Wednesday evening. Her award was delivered by Vermont's Secretary of Education, The President of the Vermont NEA, and UVM's Dean of Education & Social Services. Her Outstanding Educator Bio stated: Anna Meehan is an outstanding teacher. It is clear that teaching and helping students learn and grow brings her joy. She is positive everyday and ensures that ALL of her students are held to high expectations. She does this through using high quality teaching practices and building strong relationships with each student and their families. Students who have had her in the past come back years later to visit. Anna builds a positive learning environment and creates a community of learners where being challenged to do your best is valued everyday. Her calm demeanor and consistency set the foundation of success from day one. Anna's work embodies the Vermont Core Teaching Standards.

Enjoy the weekend with your families,

Ashley Gray (EES Principal)

PICK UP PATROL HELPFUL HINTS:

Reminders:

A message to families about Pick Up Patrol:

If you choose "Pickup" from the drop down, this means you will pick up your child at the end of the school day, which is 2:50pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 1:50pm on Wednesdays.

If you are picking up your child early (before the end of the school day) make sure you choose "Early Dismissal - Pick up no later than 2:15p.m., 1:15p.m. on Wednesdays" from the drop down options and select the matching time for when you will pick up your child that day.

If your child has an appointment and will be gone for only part of the school day, you may select their afterschool plan from the drop down menu and add a comment that indicates what time your child will be picked up and brought back to school.

We appreciate your continued help and support!

Please reach out to the front office if you have any questions.

LOST AND FOUND REMINDERS!

LOST AND FOUND!

Our Lost and Found is filling up! We try to return everything that is labeled, so please label everything that you send in with your child. As winter approaches, we find many hats, mittens and sweatshirts and JACKETS that we would LOVE to return so your child can stay warm outside. (We have many mittens from the same company, so we recommend being sure each mitten is labeled).

Stop in and check out the Lost and Found!

Bus Cancellation Reminders:

The most up to date list can always be found on our EWSD TRANSPORTATION PAGE:

MISSING A DISTRICT EMAIL OR PHONE UPDATE??

Dear Families,

If you have not received a recent email/phone call update from the school or District, please follow the steps below:

  • Check your SPAM folder. Sometimes email providers will think that multiple emails from a specific email address are junk/spam.
  • You can also try searching in your email for the following email address and see if anything comes up: donotreply@blackboard.com If you do find emails from this address have been marked as 'SPAM,' you should be able to update that and mark them as 'not SPAM.'
  • If the phone calls alerting families about bus cancellations are showing up on your phone as 'Potential SPAM,' you can save that number as a contact in your phone and that should fix that.

If you are still having any issues, please reach out to EWSD Communications Coordinator Ben Dickie (bdickie@ewsd.org).
