Mission Statement

St. Joseph Catholic School fosters a diverse community of disciples empowered through a rigorous and inclusive Catholic education rooted in Gospel values and service to others.

As we continue to navigate this pandemic together as a school community, please keep in mind that based on guidance from the Diocese and the Health Department, we do not accept home tests for COVID 19. If you have any questions about acceptable tests, please contact Mrs. Haas.

With the increased number of Covid cases in Polk County, we have adjusted Friday Mass attendance from the entire school to smaller groups of students. We will rotate student groups to attend in church.

This week, grades 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 will attend mass in the church. The remaining classes will watch mass from their classroom, just like last year.

Grade 5 Orientation

The Parent Orientation for Grade 5 will be on Thursday, September 2nd at 6pm via Zoom. Parents of fifth graders can expect a zoom link from their teachers when we get closer to September 2nd. Please make every effort to attend this live zoom meeting.

First Communion Information

Registration is open for those children seeking 1st Communion this year at St. Joseph Church.

  • Church registration and a baptism certificate are required.
  • If you are registered at another parish and wish your child to receive here you will need a letter of permission from your pastor.
  • Registration deadline is Sept. 25th Fee is $25: no child will be turned away for lack of money. Speak to Becky Roach in the church office.
  • First parent / child sacramental preparation meeting is Sept. 27th at 6:30 in the Parish Center.

We are very grateful for the cooperation and communication from parents as we navigate through this pandemic together. It is very important that students stay home if they are not feeling well or show any symptoms of COVID 19. If your child is absent from school, you should anticipate a phone call or email from the school inquiring about the reason for the child's absence. For those students on Scholarship through the state (ie. Step Up for Students, Family Empowerment, Mckay, etc.), it is especially important that we have daily communication when students are absent from school. Please keep in mind that virtual learning is not an option for our students unless the school places entire classes on quarantine. Scholarship companies will be auditing student attendance, as they do every year, and require students to be in school. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Haas.

read a thon

Read-a-thon is off to a great start! As of this evening, already more than $13,000 has been donated on the 99pledges website. Way to go! We have met our first school-wide goal of $10,000 and look forward to having our PreK teachers dress as a character from a book made into a movie. When we reach $15,000, our primary teachers (Kindergarten through grade 2) will dress as their favorite character.

Students will be reading in their classrooms next week. Please consider supporting this fundraiser. Money raised will be used to help purchase much needed windows and air conditioning for our school. Donations can be made online or by sending donations into the school office. Please note that students will receive credit towards prizes when donations are made through the school office.

we feed fridays

Please consider sending a canned food item to school tomorrow with your child. Canned food items are collected on mass days and are used to stock the shelves of the food pantry at Catholic Charities.

St. Joseph Prayer

O Blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, protector of Mary, the virgin Mother of God, I choose you this day to be my special patron and advocate and I firmly resolve to honor you all the days of my life. Therefore, I humbly ask you to receive me as your client, to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction, to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus, and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death. Amen.
