Diary of Anne Frank
Mrs. Van Daan
Mrs. Van Daan
Mrs. Van Daan historical name was Auguste van Pels and was one of the people in hiding from the nazi occupation. Mrs. Van Daan was married to Mr. Van Daan and Peter is her son. She’s belligerent and selfish, always instigates fights, is rarely helpful.
Never Show the Enemy Weakness
One of my life themes is never show weakness to the enemy. It is important never to show weakness to the enemy because they will use that against you. Mr. Kraler shows this well in the play because he didn't break when he was confronted by a person suspecting that Mr. Kraler is hiding Jews. Mr.kraler said he had to think about, what shall I do pay him money or take a chance on firing him. He didn't confess even though he could get in big trouble if he was hiding Jews. Mr. Kraler said,” I'll offer you half and then goodbye.”
Never Give Up
Another one of my life themes is never give up even when times are bad. It's important to never to give up because if you do you lose. Mr. Frank shows never to give up because food was running low and the group started bickering about how much food they each get to have. Margot said,” Oh no we haven't sunk so far were fight over a bunch of moldy potatoes.” Mr. Düsseldorf start to divide the potatoes and the group yells and bickers. Mr. Frank comes in and stops the moldy potatoe dividing and calms everyone down. Mr. Frank says.” I beg of you don't let Meip see us like this.”
Old Fur Coat
I pick Mrs. Van Daans old fur coat. This object represents them because she likes to think in the past. Mrs. Van Daans fur coat her father gave her. She doesn't want to give up anything for a good cause. She refused and fought to leave the jacket in her possession and not have it sold to get more food and supply. When Anne spilled milk on Mrs. Van Daans coat she had a complete outrage.
