Team,
What a great week! We had students attend their etiquette luncheon from Coach Corbridge, Coach Goffney and Coach Banda's classes. All students practiced appropriate social graces at Chili's restaurant!
Red Ribbon Week was a success. Students celebrated that they are DRUG FREE! Way to go SMS!
During our Faculty Meeting, we discussed many changes that will be taking place at SMS. I will share the presentation with you. If you have any questions, please see your appraiser.
This week our tutors for ELAR will join us. Please welcome them with open arms. They will be assisting in Guided Groups for students who need just a little more assistance. We have them 2 days a week for 6 hours/day. Ami and Diana will also be on campus. Diana will be working with all core content on Monday. Ami will be specifically working with Math.
Good things are happening at SMS! We will announce the weeks Grand Slam Winner(s) Monday morning!

Character Ed.- Mrs Kraemer
The students from all grade levels participated in Character Ed classes this week. The students participated in an activity where they had to write what respect looks like from his or her perspective to an adult and to their peers. At the beginning of class students seemed to have a vague idea of what respect looks like and was shocked to see the list provided by the adults on campus. We talked about valuing the worth of others, appreciating others’ differences, actively listening, not bullying/calling names, and not feeding the drama.
Furthermore, we discussed the fact that we are an IR campus and their role to help is to focus on respecting learning and with that comes respecting others, better behaviors, and making an effort to be a part of the solution. Most of the classes were able to break into small groups and record a speech on what respect means to them. In conclusion, the majority of the students seemed to understand the common goal we have for respect on our campus and were told they will now be held accountable to live up to those expectations.
