The Weekly Hoot
April 15-21, 2019
Greetings All -
Happy Friday! It's about 4:45, I am writing the Hoot, and there isn't a PEEP to be heard in the school! LOL! Thanks for all of you who are heavily participating in the PEEP war as well as the ones who are grinning and bearing it and wishing it was over. All of you are appreciated for sure! I hope everyone has a great weekend planned. Morgan and Brett are coming in from Louisiana as I type this because next week is her Spring Break, Donovan is singing at a bar and grill in Spring on Sunday afternoon, and I am about to hit the tee-ball field to watch Bayleigh play a little ball. I won't be here on Monday because I want to spend one full day with Mo and Brett before they head back to Louisiana on Thursday, so ya'll be sweet to the front office while I am gone. Hopefully all this rain I am hearing about stays away!
As all of you know, this is the time of year that things for next year begin taking shape. We are working on fleshing out plans now. It was great to hear from all of the grade level meetings I had this week. There are still a few more to go in the upcoming weeks, but I promise I will meet with everyone.
I am working on getting summative evaluations together because they all have to be completed before May 1st. I wrote up a schedule, but I am behind of course, but I promise we will get them done in the next couple of weeks for sure. Connie will be getting with you about SLOs soon as well.
STAAR scores for the first round of testing for 5th grade are due in on Monday, April 29th. Sometimes they come in early, so here's hoping for that. I know that the Brandy Price and Amy Keally are anxiously awaiting those results, as the rest of us are. Also finished testing is 4th grade Writing, but those results won't come back until June with the rest of the 3rd and 4th grade scores.
As the school year gets closer to the end, spring fever gets rampant, and it is inevitable that discipline issues tend to arise more frequently. Please remember that consistency is important. If a student ends up with a write-up, please make sure you have made contact with the parents about any pre-referrals that are in the system already. There are many fun type activities that are coming up for students. Please feel free to hold some of those as rewards if needed. I know ya'll work hard on positive behavior with some of these babies, and it is MUCH appreciated!
I have also noticed, and some has been brought to my attention specifically, that we all might be getting a little "spring fever" as well. We are tired. Our kids have late games. Our kids in our classes are acting up. And I could go on and on. We have to remember, though, to hold each other up during these hard last few weeks of school rather than get snippy with each other. It is easy to let our emotions get away with us, but just know that it is also noticed by other teachers and administration as well. If you need to let off some steam, cry about a bad day, or vent about something that is bothering you, come in my office, close the door, and let it out, but please don't ruffle each other's feathers or let it be shown in your classroom, hallways, cafeteria, etc...
I am continuously updating the Calendar of Events on the Owl Nest. If you see anything that needs to be added, please let me know.
Thanks for a great week! I hope everyone of you have a beautiful weekend.
Love to all,
Marcy
