Reflections from Ms. Williams
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
Our week in Phase 4 was smooth, and we eagerly await Phase 5, which begins Wednesday. In Phase 5 half of WBMS students have selected Remote learning every day of the week and the other half will report to the building five days a week. The expectation of students in both groups is the same, and we look forward to all students fully participating and engaging in all classes.
Increasing overall literacy levels through growing the love of storytelling, reading stamina, text complexity, vocabulary acquisition, and all types of writing is one of our main educational goals. We know high levels of literacy improve overall learning and success in school and life. Adding just ten minutes of reading each day, increases a person’s word exposure by more than 100% and positively impact’s one’s mood and confidence. Each month our faculty members focus on a literacy best practice, which is used in all content areas, and each Thursday in Compass, we all take time to read. Additionally, students may check out books from the WBMS Media Center. Students may locate and hold titles in Destiny Discover. Remote students may then watch for an email from our Media Center that the books are ready. Pickup times are between 7:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. on school days outside the media center (traffic circle just past front office entrance). Dial 470-254-8755 and the books will be brought out to you. Books may be returned any time to the secure book drop just outside the media center. For F2F students, books will be delivered to students through ELA and Reading classes. Please contact Ms. Brown at brownnt@fultonschools.org with any questions. Furthermore, next week will be conducting a virtual public library card signup through our ELA classes, so our students can also access all the great resources available through our public library system.
Consider selecting a family read for the long weekend or picking an audiobook for everyone to enjoy!
Be well and relish your family time!

New Carpool Procedure-Sign up for a Carpool Tag
We will use carpool numbers to dismiss students to maximize social distancing. If you have not already requested a Carpool Tag, please contact hedgerb@fultonschools.org to request a tag. Please include your student's name and grade in the request.
If your student always rides the bus home, walks, or rides a bike, you do not need to complete the form. If you have more than one student at WBMS, you only need one number per household.
Thank you!
Happy Custodial Appreciation Day!

Fall Reading Challenges
Webb Bridge WON the Ga Tech Buzzer Readers competition in 2019; do YOU want to be part of a repeat? We had the highest number of pages read for all middle schools in metro Atlanta who participated, first place seventh grade class (Ms. Boltz), and first place seventh grade student (Sophia L). Log the pages you’re reading on the Form in this Sway to help us “score” a win again! Do you like to earn badges? Complete the Fulton County Public Library Fall Reading Challenge by reading and listening to books and completing other activities. (Need books or magazines to read? We have info on how to get those, too!)

Announcing The Community Cupboard
Do you know a family in need at WBMS?
Please reach out to our counseling staff so we can find ways to help.
We are so happy to announce our new PTA and SGC initiative, the Community Cupboard. This will provide emergency necessities for families in our school experiencing hardship. Over the last 2 weeks our community has rallied behind this project and provided many school supplies so all children can start the year off on the right foot. Now we will work on stocking out cupboard with household items of need.
Please consider making a donation! Current needs can be found HERE. We also have an Amazon Wish List.
