Peace for Our Patriots

Peace and Patriotism

The Japanese culture has treasured the crane as a symbol of honor and loyalty. The Japanese people believe that if a person or group folds 1,000 cranes, they will be granted their greatest wish. Students in the Multi-Age will fold 1,000 cranes and their greatest wish is PEACE FOR OUR PATRIOTS.

This service learning project will allow us all to show honor and loyalty to Our United States Overseas Military Troops!

After reading the story Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, Multi-Agers decided to learn to fold paper cranes. The cranes are being sold for $1 during lunch periods the entire month of February. All proceeds are being used to create Boxes of Care for our overseas troops and to c

over shipping costs.

Please consider purchasing cranes during lunch periods. Anyone who wishes to donate supplies for the Boxes of Care may do so in the collection barrels by the office. The Lewiston VFW has provided a list of items soldiers most often request:

  • Pens

  • Coffee (smaller can or freeze-dried packages)

  • Dry creamer

  • Sugar packets

  • Baby powder

  • Hard candies (no chocolates)

  • Soap

  • Shampoo

  • Baby Wipes

  • New or gently used DVD movies, comedies, TV shows

Additionally, if you know overseas military personnel, please let us know. It would be our pleasure and honor to send a box of caring to them!
