A Note from Mrs. Lee
Dear Parents,
December is here! We are quickly making our way through this month and finishing up our first semester of learning! Today your students were entertained at lunch by our Cafeteria Cops Program. Our local police officers come to help serve lunch, introduce themselves and their role in our community, as well as share fun music with all of our students. Ask your child if they had fun at lunch today!
The next two weeks will fly by with fun activities at school and likely at home. We appreciate all you have done to support your students and our teachers this year. The Staff Wish List for those parents who might want insight on their student’s teachers favorite things is listed below.
We will be having our Skaggs classroom holiday parties on Friday, December 20th at 9:30. If you are interested in being a visitor or volunteer for the party, please RSVP on the Google Form- Skaggs Holiday Party. We will have your badge ready for you when you arrive.
Warm wishes,
Mrs. Lee & Mrs. Williams
Parent Survey
Thank you parents for filling out the surveys. We have been reading every single one, and we are finding them very valuable. We appreciate your constructive feedback!
Skaggs Parent Survey Fall 2019-2020
New: An idea was shared from the survey that we could show appreciation to our school crossing guard. Thank you for remembering all of those helping hands! We will put together baskets to present to crossing guard, custodians, and cafeteria staff on December 20th. If you would like to contribute, please bring them to the front office by December 19th.
Skaggs Instructional Model
I wanted to share with you the instructional model created by Skaggs teachers. We have been using this model as a commitment to ourselves on what should happen in our classrooms. The model is listed below.

- Differentiation / All students working to their potential
- High collaboration and interaction among students
- Greeting students at the door
- Teacher modeling
- Marzano’s High Effect Score Strategies
- Celebrating progress
- Monitoring student progress
- Rigor - Asking in-depth questions
SHOULD NOT SEE AND HEAR
- Negative or demeaning tone of voice
- Yelling at students
- Using only low level questions verbally and on assignments

- Disengaged as a whole class
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
__100% of the students are engaged with classroom objectives and learning
__Greater than 80% of the students are engaged with classroom objectives and learning
__Greater than 50% of the students are engaged with classroom objectives and learning
__Less than 50% of the students are engaged with classroom objectives and learning
Morning Carpool (Revised)
Front and Back Drop Offs
- For safety for all, we ask that your vehicle does not stop on the crosswalk. Please look for pedestrians.
- In the carpool, we appreciate you waiting patiently and following the cars before you. Even when things move slowly, it is safer to wait then to drive around (frog hop) it.
- As always, arriving at school closer to 7:30 am is a win for our children. When they're here early, they are ready for a successful day.
- FYI, your child does not have to wait for someone to open the door. If the car has come to a complete stop, they may open their own door to exit. Thank you.
