A Message from Superintendent Dr. John Sparlin
Hello Parents/Guardians,
There is an important annual feedback opportunity beginning soon. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey for students and teachers will be conducted January 24 through March 31. Our district also participates in the Parent Survey Supplement, which will be conducted during that same timeframe. This annual survey is an important tool for us, providing a glimpse into the current perception of students, teachers and parents. Prior research has shown that schools strong on three or more of the 5Essentials were 10 times more likely to improve student learning gains than schools weak on three or more of the Essentials.
Wondering what the Essentials are?
Effective Leaders
Collaborative Teachers
Involved Families
Supportive Environments
Ambitious Instruction
Please take the time to complete the parent survey when it begins, without a minimum participation, the results for each school are not shared. Principals and superintendents will receive their 5Essentials Reports in May 2023. Survey results will also be reported publicly on the 5Essentials reporting site in Spring 2023 and on the State School Report Card website in Fall 2023. If you have any questions about 5Essentials you can contact your school principal, or learn more about the survey platform online here.
Links to the parent survey and information about the student survey (grades 4-12) will be sent out next week.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thanks for being such a great partner in education!
