First grade has been Exploring Air, a science investigation. It is a unit that children enjoy for its hands-on projects like using objects to move air, constructing a parachute, using syringes to discover compressed air and the effect of air pressure (air wrestling and the "pop-off"), and using balloon rockets to demonstrate how air pressure can propel a balloon forward. We love science!
