Please be sure to sign up with your team leader for parent - teacher - student conferences. This is a wonderful opportunity to have a three way conversation centered on each student's learning and progress along with opportunities and challenges. Please see the conference resources below as you prepare for these important conversations.

STUDENTS IN ACTION

Artbeat 2016

We are pleased to announce ArtBeat 2016, an annual student art exhibit sponsored by West Hartford Public Schools and the West Hartford Art League. The show features student work from kindergarten to twelfth grade. King Philip will have 24 pieces on display, eight from each grade level. The opening reception is on March 9 from 4:30-6:30pm at the Saltbox and Clubhouse galleries located at 37 Buena Vista Road. The show will be up until April 3. In the spirit of promoting community collaboration, we ask visitors to please bring a non-perishable food item to the opening to donate to the West Hartford Food Bank.

Butter Braid Fundraiser to Support our KP Families in Need -- The flyers have been sent home!

These delicious Butter Braid pastries are a welcome addition to any meal. All funds raised will be used to support KP families in times of need.


March 2nd - All order forms and money need to be turned in.

Talking About Speech and Language

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between speech and language? Do you want to get familiar with terms such as articulation, oral motor, receptive language, expressive language and pragmatic language use? How do West Hartford's Early Learning Center, elementary and high schools address your child’s speech and language needs? Join our SEPTO district representative Jennifer Lano, M.S., CCC-SLP (Whiting Lane ELC/Speakology LLC) and district colleagues to help you better understand your child’s speech and language needs throughout the years. Learn what speech therapy looks like across the ages and how these skills help your child in school and in life. Location: Sedgwick Middle School, 128 Sedgwick Road, West Hartford.

Fern Street Community Kitchen - Free Community Breakfast & Lunches

The Fern Street Community Kitchen has Free Community lunches and breakfasts for neighbors in need at The Universalist Church, 433 Fern Street, West Hartford.


Community Breakfast

Every other Monday, Foodshare Mobile Truck will be distributing food in our back parking lot from 8:45 - 9:30 a.m. Breakfast is served from 9:00 - 10:00am on February 29, March 14, March 28, April 11, April 25.

Community Lunch

12:00 - 1:30pm - February 20, March 19, April 16

Being Mindful While Parenting - Thursday, February 25th, 7:00-8:00pm

Parenting is more enjoyable when you are calm. You can achieve this with Mindfulness. Parenting mindfully means parenting in the present moment, non-judgmentally, without the need to react. Join our Mindfulness Practice meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at the Noah Webster Library Story Room, 20 South Main Street.


These drop-in meetings are for parents who are interested in learning how to be mindful with their children, and are facilitated by Laura Price Wilson, LPC, Parenting Consultant. The meetings start with introductions, followed by a 5-7 min. meditation, a discussion about Mindfulness, how to be mindful everyday and its powerful connection to parenting. Free, no registration required. Sponsored by the West Hartford Public Libraries and Great by 8!
