The Advent Virus . . . . Anonymous via email WARNING……
Dear Parents,
I received this the other day and wanted to share it with you. I hope that you are able to have some of the feelings and joy from the advent season.
WARNING: ADVENT VIRUS
Be on the alert for symptoms of inner Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. The hearts of a great many have already been exposed to this virus and it is possible that people everywhere could come down with it in epidemic proportions. This could pose a serious threat to what has, up to now, been a fairly stable condition of conflict in the world.
Some signs and symptoms of The Advent Virus:
- A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experiences.
- An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.
- A loss of interest in judging other people.
- A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others
- A loss of interest in conflict.
- A loss of the ability to worry. (This is a very serious symptom.)
- Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation.
- Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.
- Frequent attacks of smiling.
- An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make them happen.
- An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it.
Please send this warning out to all your friends. This virus can and has affected many systems. Some systems have been completely cleaned out because of it.

Coat Drive
Coats, Hats, Scarves and Gloves!!!
Do you have gently used coats that you aren’t using anymore hanging in your closets? Clear them out! The 5th and 2nd graders are wanting to help those in need this winter and you can assist in two ways!
1.) Simply bring your gently used coat(s), size infant to adult, to St. Cecilia School and drop them in the totes located in the hallway by the front office doors. Preschool also has a tote in their classroom for donations. Coats can be donated throughWednesday, 12/17. The 5th graders will sort and distribute the coats to Birthright and the Bethesda Community Clothing Closet in Ames, as well as local community members in need on Wednesday, 12/17, just in time for Christmas.*
2.) Want to help, but don’t have any coats to provide? Send your monetary donation in a envelope marked, 2nd grade Service Project, and have your student give to their teacher. All contributions will be used to purchase hats, gloves and scarves and donated with the gently used coats. The monetary donations will be combined with proceeds from the 2nd grade hot cocoa sale offered last week. Donations will be accepted through Tuesday, December 16th.
Questions, please contact Lisa Weary at sept16@msn.com or #515-292-0488. Thank you for helping those in need this winter and Christmas season, as well as supporting the 5th and 2nd grade service projects!
*Bethesda Community Clothing Closet is a volunteer operated organization and provides free clothing and meals to families in need.
