The Hoot Owl
APRIL 2022
PRINCIPAL NOTES
Spring also brings lots of activities and excitement that can distract students from learning. We ask that you help us by reminding your child of school expectations daily so that we can continue to grow them academically. For third and fourth graders, STAAR will be here before we know it and for lower grades, end of the year testing to measure growth. It's an exciting time but an important time.
ExplOREtorium night is coming and we are so excited to bring this event back and invite families to attend. During the event, we showcase science and technology on our campus as well as our amazing garden. A silent auction will be held (the coveted "skip the car rider line" will be up for grabs) as well as fun games, a food truck and a dessert truck. We hope that you and your family will join us for an evening of learning and fun. Title One information will also be handed out at this event so make sure and pick up information that explains why we are a Title One school and what the benefits to that are.

*Early pick up ends at 2:45. If you arrive after 2:45 you will need to join the car rider line.
*Coming off the I-45 feeder, car rider line starts on Oak Ridge School Road. If you enter our driveway, the right turn lane will be blocked forcing you to turn left and find the end of the line.
*Parents may not park and walk students to the building in the morning nor to pick them up in the afternoon.
*Please have your car rider sign visible in the line. If you need another sign, please call the front office and request one.
*Reminder that cells phone usage is prohibited in the car rider line per state law. This poses a safety threat to our students and staff. Please refrain from using your cell phone in the line.
PTO NEWS
We are also always looking for parents to help with activities, not serve on the board. If you would be willing to volunteer some time to help with events throughout the year (fundraiser, staff appreciation, staff luncheons, etc), please complete the form as well.
April 12 - Join us for another Spirit Day at Raisin' Canes. Eat there anytime during the day, mention ORE at the check out and they will donate a percentage back to our school.

ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES
Tardies - We begin counting tardies at 8:01 a.m. We do, however, monitor the line. We take note of the last car in line at 8:01 and all cars after that, the students are counted tardy. Currently, we have a much shorter line between 7:45 - 7:55. If you consistently arrive about 7:55, try adjusting your morning schedule by about 10 minutes, you will not have to wait in line to drop off your child. Student drop off and pick up is the line closes to the building. Do not drop off or pick up on the other side the covered drive as it is unsafe for everyone involved.
