notes from the academic review team
When a new student comes up for discussion, a folder with their name will be created and placed on the TEAM drive.
To access:
- go to your GRADE LEVEL Team drive and open the folder titled: A.R.T.- “Grade,” all students who have been submitted for discussion will have folders accessible by all teachers of that grade level.
Contents of the student folders:
- ETA (submitted by the classroom teacher)
- Educational Snapshot
- Action Plan (Created after the student was discussed)
- Notes from observations (if any have been conducted)
The action plan lists the name of the point person, should you have any questions or further comments.
Please note: we do not discuss every student, every week. Some students are on an intervention cycle and we set check-in dates for us to circle back and talk about them. Other students, depending how many we have at any one time will be checked in on every other week.
The two main things to remember once you have submitted a name:
1. You should know who your point person is
2. You should know how to access the action plan
IF YOU SUSPECT YOUR STUDENT MAY NEED SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES...
Special Education services are only designated for children whose needs cannot be met in a regular education setting, and who have not responded to available interventions, accommodations, and modifications. Therefore, all efforts to serve a child within your classroom must be considered, documented, and utilized, before a student is referred for a special education evaluation.
recycling
A reminder that the BLUE BINS are for paper only. NO cardboard, crayon boxes, juice boxes, etc..
The GREEN BINS are for plastic water bottles, aluminum cans, plastic materials such as bubble wrap, etc. NO paper or cardboard at all.
Please make sure that students know what they can and cannot throw into the blue and green bins.
If we do not follow these rules, the custodians have to sort through every bin. Thank you for your help with this.
a reminder from the office of technology
When initiating a request for technology and/or technology assistance, including any X2 or data requests that you email the HelpDesk only at help@framingham.k12.ma.us or call the Help Desk ext: @26901.
The process:
- All persons with a technology issue or request, contacts the Help Desk via help@framingham.k12.ma.us or by calling ext: 26901 (this is a automated attendant so you will be required to select an option). If email, do not CC anyone.
- A ticket will be generated and the requestor is sent an email with a ticket number.
- A technician is assigned and that technician prioritizes the request based on workload.
- A technician will begin correspondence and working with the person that requested assistance. This could be a phone call or email.
- As the work progresses, the technician will update the ticket and the person that made the request will receive email update.
- Upon resolution, the ticket will be closed and the person that made the request will receive an email of resolution/information requested.
- This process includes all technology and data requests.
A few additional points:
- Prioritization is based on workload, deadlines, staff availability and number of people impacted by request.
- All technicians are required to use the ticketing system. Request made directly to a technician will be returned to the person asking them to submit through the helpdesk process.
- Technicians are not dedicated or assigned to any one department or building.
- If you feel appropriate support is not provided or you feel the need to escalate, an email can be sent to Dave Heistand (dheistand@framingham.k12.ma.us) and/or George Carpenter (gcarpenter@framingham.k12.ma.us) along with the ticket number of the issue/request.

MCAS INFO
This year Dunning will participate in the Infrastructure Trial. The window for this is February 11 - March 15. We will be making the schedule for that soon.
Updated MCAS English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science and Technology/Engineering practices tests and related resources are now posted here.
Please see guidance on graphic organizers below. Students should be using them NOW and they should be well practiced if they will use them on MCAS.
Graphic Organizers, Checklists, and Supplemental Reference Sheets for Students with Disabilities on Next-Generation MCAS Tests.
As a reminder, the Department does not permit the use of individualized graphic organizers that contain text or supplemental reference sheets for the next-generation ELA and Mathematics tests. This rule applies to all next-generation tests in ELA and Mathematics, including the new high school tests. Students with disabilities using accommodation A9 may only use these supplemental ELA graphic organizers and Mathematics reference sheets. These approved materials may be used as is, enlarged, or with text omitted. It is not permissible, however, to add text or references.
For the STE tests and high school Biology and Introductory Physics field tests, schools may use the sample STE reference sheets provided by the Department for students with disabilities using accommodation A9 (no additional approval of these sheets is needed). Alternatively, schools may submit a customized reference sheet for approval for STE following the procedures on pages 18–19 of the Accessibility and Accommodations Manual.
For staff that will be administering MCAS (and administered last year at Dunning):
School and district staff who had access to PearsonAccess Next (PAN) during the previous school year should log into PANto make sure their accounts are still active. If you are able to log into your account successfully, no further action is needed at this time. Accounts that were automatically disabled will receive an error message upon log-in; resetting the password will enable the account.
* For staff that are new to Dunning this year, you will soon be added to PAN if you will be involved in MCAS testing. You will receive an email regarding password setup once you've been added.
